Command Hot Keys

<div class="IPBDescription">Bind Problems</div> OK I have been playing this game for quite some time now and recently tried something a firend of mine suggested would help my awesome ability to command the marine team. He suggested to bind the select all players as well as buildings and stuff. This is great. It would really be like starcraft and all those other games where you can bind your units and select them quickly. Ok great. Here is the problem:

I bind the keys and they don't work! In game bindings don't work and cfg file bindings don't work. Any help out there for this?




Another side note is (cuz i can't find it elsewhere and frankly don't have time for searches, plus i never find what i am looking for in them):

What are these so called 1-5 Teams? 5 is supposedly the best but since i can't bind i can't see these things? Any FAQs on this or anything you guys could tell me about it. Basically i am just reallyfast going back and forth form the base and its buildings but lets fact it, it is really slow and i lose more and more team member to deaths that could have easily been saved if I had this ability to store units and buildings ot hotkeys.

One more question: Are any bots out there that command on their own yet? Being a Comupter Science Major, level editor, and x-modmaker i know there is alot that would have to go in it but is this possible or underway?

    There are already hotkeys pre-built into NS for command mode. By default they are:

    While no key is bound to an absolute function, they hotkey the command menu for you. How it works:

    Pretend this is the command menu:

    Pressing the "Q" key (with default comm hotkeys) will simulate pressing button "1", pressing the "C" key will simulate pressing button 11, and so on.

    <b>Note:</b> Binding a normal bind to these keys will not work when you are in command mode. Example: Binding key "q" to do "say hello!" will not work when you are commander if your command hotkeys include the letter "q".

    Also you should note that binds to the mouse buttons will not work.

    These are called "squads". There are squads 1-5. You create a squad by making a selection of your choice (single marine, multiple marines, or a single building), and holding your duck key and pressing 1-5. That will create the respective squad (Duck + 1 creates squad 1, and so on). You then access these squads by pressing the 1-5 keys on your keyboard (no duck key is required to access the squads), this will then auto select whatever you happened to set your squad to. Pressing it again will shift your view over top of this squad.

    Example:

    Select an arms lab. Hold down your duck key and press "1" on your keyboard. Squad 1 is created.

    Select all your marines. Hold down your duck key and press "5" on your keyboard. Squad 5 is created.

    I can't think of the impulse for it off hand, but the button for it is the circle button of a marine which is next to the squad selection buttons in the comm HUD.

    <b>Edit:</b> I think it may be impulse 105...

    With the exception of the info about hte squads I allready knew. In my .cfg file it says impulse and numbers for all the commands like selecting all the players and I knew about the Little button near the top that also selects all. My probelm with bind that I am talking about are thoese four binds. The Select all Players, Respond ot Oreder Request, Respond to Ammo request, and respond to medic request. These don't work for me. Also, I use my MOUSE 5 button for ducking. I can easly switch it to cntl but either way after selecting a number of my players I still cannot make a squad out of them using the Duck + 1-5 with them. Nor can I do it for buildings.

    Any Suggestions?

    just use jump to respond to any requests, I think that still works, shouldnt take too long to go through your request list.

    I tried that, but it felt as if it switched to a random event, when i used it, i didn't know what was requested, so i'd suggest to just push the buttons. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
