I haven't had a CD-RW before, and I've been shopping for one because I really have been wanting one. Don't worry about the site, sure it looks simple, but I've bought from these people multiple times (for my custom-made computer and my montor). So, what do you think? Does it sound like a winnar? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Make sure the drive supports DAO/RAW modes, so you can copy your favorite cd protected games <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->. The sony CRX models are pretty good, I have one right now and I've never had any problems with it. Go ahead and buy, is my advice.

    If you're not on a budget, Plextor is the absolute nicest burner you can buy. I absolutely love mine. Its fast, its quiet, and I have never ever ever had a bad burn. I love it.

    /me feels vindicated <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    That and when you finaly do break it when you slip putting in a disk and it closes with the disk only partly in the platter.... Only the front of the tray will pop off. and that you can just stick back on <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    And when the buttons stop working properly, jut use some scotch tape and they are good as new again.

    Note, this is the first CDR Drive I have ever owneD (infact it is still the only one I have owned)

    its a 12/10/32 and is one of the first generations with burnproof technology (the thing that keeps you from making miss burns <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    yah, aside from some stuff that has broken due to me being a klutz my drive is still good as new <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> (well dirty also but hey, <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    so yah, and they are not all that much more expensive then other brands (I did a quick poke and found similar drives with the plextor being like $5 more)

    Well my first burner was a 2X one. 30-45 minutes to burn 1 640MB cd. So the fact that I can do a CD in around 5 minutes still has me completely amazed. :)

    Don't bother getting a CD-RW that burns over 48x. It's just a waste of money past that point, because most CDs have a max burn of 40x or 48x.
