I'm not holding my breath on this one, but I would be interested to see if HL2 is released before September THIS year.
I'm also kind of wishing I hadn't bought that graphics card in August <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
either way it's still going to be total and utter ownage
I was thinking, "Waitaminute, that's today!!", until it dawned that they were just putting today's date in the header. Teehee.
While Valve never ever ever hits their first release dates, they SOMETIMES do hit their second. :) So there's at least some chance HL2 may really come out this summer! :D
Don't believe a word he says, just sit back and wait till Valve are sure.
How can you have so lots of info on their releases as HL is their only release? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Anyway, if the HL2 is already fully playable only with some gaps in the plot, I wonder how much it's going to own after 6 more months of development <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
$250 says they miss Summer and hit winter
HEY GABE: You probably would get less hackers in your system if you actually WORKED instead of just downloading porn all day. A year, that's disgraceful.

This is a troll children. Do not feed it.
Hl2, i think we can say it'll be released next millenium, not sure though. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If Half-Life was delayed a year, it was because it just wasn't ready not to tune up the gordon model. If companies give a release date, they should show some effort in actually making that date, or not give it at all. If the development team hits a snag, then by all means thats a decent reason to delay a game. But the fact that delays nowadays are to be expected show how gaming companies use release dates for publicity, not for intended dates of release.

Also, "Valve does not plan to reveal any additional information until the time surrounding the E3 trade show" in May.

Yea...that one's for Vampire Masquerade (or something), not Half-Life 2. HL2 is tentatively set for summer 2004 (just pick a day between june and october and hope it comes earlier).
I'd rather hear a couple false release dates than absolutely nothing. When you're getting constant feedback from a company (or game designers, more aptly) you feel like the game is actually being made, so you don't lose complete interest.
As in, there's been almost no news on HL2 since the leak, and people start to lose interest (not that they wont be interested in it, they'll forget and spend money on something else and wont afford the game later, or they'll just abandon it, because it will become outdated).
Summer would still be before Stalker: Oblivion Lost and Halo 2 (even though it's Xbox only).

Can I poke it?
On to more "serious" matters. I'm glad to find out straight from the horse's mouth what the expected release time is. Also glad to hear that it will it be at E3 this year too, lots of new stuff should be shown, and we can only hope that it will pwn as much as the stuff at last year's E3.

How is that trolling? Tef is pretty much right. Gabe is a moron.
:/ for learning that it won't be out till summer time . . .
at least when it's done it'll be the next "Best Game of All Time" or at least tied with the current one. (Which is Half-Life. I forget which issue of PC Gamer)
If Valve says they're working hard to repair and patch up the source code, then that's all we have to go by. Anything else would just be a conspiracy theory and pure speculation. And a year is <i>not</i> a disgrace. Just take a look at Duke Nukem Forever, now <i>that</i> is a disgrace.
Should we even bother to make Daikatana jokes at this point?
