Protected Cc?

Okay for my first map (ns_ map... way too damn many cheap and lazy co_ maps out there ), I'm debating making the CC in a protected booth, like so. There should be enough room for an IP back there as well. The reason, to stop acid rocket, web spam, from disabling you the second you spawn.

Thoughts? I can see it being a pain hole if several skulks get back in there but...

(The diamond pattern is my temp texture for now)

Well, when you get a skulk back there munching on the CC it may be kinda hard to get at safley.

Idea: Make an entrance in behind the CC as well, so its not in a silly cubbyhole.

Its actaully a good idea.. I don't think anyone's tried that way.. the closest I can think of is hera, but still it looks pretty cool and that setup might be worth while.

If the aliens have Acid Rocket, that means three hives. Unless the marines are lazy and got no upgrades etc. they deserve the CC to be destroyed and lose. If marines do have upgrades when aliens reach a third hive, that would mean they have a good chance of defending the CC. Nice idea, just not really needed for most ns_ maps.

Well in a map like, say, lost for example, usually you'll spawn, and a skulk leaps and bites your face off. Or something. Basically this setup will more or less ensure that the CC and an IP (I haven't tested yet, but there SHOULD be enough space there) will be generally the last things to fall. I really don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. For now, I'll keep with it, I suppose, it's easy to remove

I considered that, but I can't see it being much deadlier then Hera, or Bast's comm chair areas (Okay, PROBABLY the worst examples ever ), but the design does lend itself to pitching a grenade back there to flush him out.

I believe this sort of thing is against the mapping guidlines. You might want to check before you get too far.

If the marine team lets aliens get three hives (acid rocket, webs) you deserve to die the second you spawn.

That booth would just prolong the end-game. And everyone hates to know they are going to lose and still have to play 15-20 minutes more...

That's my personal opinion at least.

By all means keep the CC out of the angles of vision that the Marine Start's entrances allow, but don't stick it in a cramped location of which game-enders such as Onos will have a hard time reaching.

what i never understood is why so many NS maps have the CC out in the open unprotected....if i were a marine fighitng off an alien scourge....I'd want to make the CC the most protected thing I have.

If we're talking for it in a story perspective, the TSA is called out as an emergency, CC placement isn't exactly planned way in advance, if i remember correctly. So basically, anywhere will do.

Yes, and I believe (to be realistic here) that the architecture in whatever ship/space station you're in wasn't built the way that a CC could be placed in safety. It's not like they expect an attack and make a special place for the CC incase the TSA would be sent in... Just my thoughts though, it's your map and feel free to continue with that.

its aganist guidelines. cuase even gorges should be able to bilebomb the cc from a relatively safe distance. and whats it good for if all IP´s are wasted and only the commander is alive?
better think about a useful base layout.
