    I don't get how people find hive sight helpful for navigating. Its a 2D pointer in a 3D world - you can't just run straight at it and expect to wind up at the hive all the time.

    That said, I think the optional hive sight is the best compromise. If people want their HS, thats fine with me. I pretty much ignore it anyways, as I find the minimap to be a vastly superior source of information. Actually, the only thing I normally use hive sight for are the "xxx is under attack" messages, because they don't show up on the map. So maybe you could do a "ns_hivesight #" and then have:
    0 = full
    1 = no hives
    2 = only objects under attack
    3 = off
    Probably wont happen, but hey, its worth a shot.

    To please all:
    Add it back in and make it toggle-able or optional

    I also had a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that following the little green dot would get me back to Kansas.
    But I also remember that at times, when the blips lined up on perfect orbit, a green large splotch can easily block the top of another green splotch heading your way (a.k.a the top of a marines head).
    So it has it benefits and drawbacks. Just modify and make it optional.

    The only time hives on hivesite have actually caused me harm was a scrim a few weeks ago where 3 marines charged me but because of the hive icon and text in the background I couldn't hit any of them with parasite. Not nearly as bad as marine waypoints though <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo--> ...
