Installed Und Not Running

i downloaded steam. i downloaded 3.0 beta. i dowloaded the beta patch.

i installed them in that order. everything looked okie dokie. then i ran NS. it still says 2.0 in the "versions" egment of the custom games menu and i cant find any CO maps when i log on and try to play. it doesnt seem to have changed at all.
ive uninstalled/reinstalled and it persits.

    It is important that you run Half-Life one time in Steam before you install Steam. Only then Steam will download all hl files which are needed to run ns.
