suprisingly great movie
Tonight I went and saw The Butterfly Effect, that new movie w/ the guy who plays Kelso on That 70's Show.
Suprisngly, he was actually very very very good in a dramatic role. Not only was it dramatic, his character was also SMART. Its like watching a completely different actor.
The movie itself is very cool. Very wierd in placing, slightly shocking in a few scenes, and a lot more unpredictable than you'd think if you've seen the trailers.
Definately worth the price of a movie ticket if you enjoy movies. Its quite refreshing to see a movie that's quite different than other stuff out there.

KFS: Ohhh alternate ending. I have an idea of just what that might be too. Won't post it here though.
I don't know exactly what it was about the movie that I didn't like, but something didn't seem right about it. I'm sorry for the very undescriptive criticism about it, but I hope you know what I'm talking about.
The story was ok, kind of a bit predictable at times, and didn't seem like it fit at other times, but it wasn't bad.
The acting was ok, although I'd rather not have Kelso in another movie.
The suspense was alright.
Maybe the reason for me not really liking the movie was just that all of these were "ok", and not "phenomenal".
The critics have been bashing the hell out of it...
Not oscar-material, but still good.

At least on strength of the critics around where I live, that seems to be their job. I've seen so many critics bash excellent movies, such as The Matrix (yeah, the first one).
Now when will it be released over here?
so i read the review, and all they complain about is "surprisingly graphic scenes" etc.. no complaints of "ashton cootcher is.. a cootcher" or something like that, about bad acting.
so i guess i'll check it out. if that chiek hasn't disappeared from my imagination yet.
The more he dislikes a movie for artsy, snobbish and baffling reasons, the more assured I can be that it will actually be a movie I'd like to see.

While the movie is no chick flick, a couple parts of it may get them all into put-out-later mode, so taking one to said flick is advisable. :P
As far as suprisingly graphic, well he does get a bloody nose... There are other more graphic parts that would spoil the movie, however they don't actually show anything (rather they let you imagine it yourself) and those scenes contain hardly any blood, if any at all.
So yeah, go check it out...
I was surprisingly entertained. I was interested through the whole movie and wanted to know what would happen next and why it was happening. There was even a handy (adult content) shot
And afterwards we were on about discussing the "what if" choices we made that could have changed who we are today. I concluded that spending so much time "thinking" about "what if?" was a one way ticket to a stomach ulcer.
I would say it's definately worth a rental but otherwise pay full price if you have nothing else to do and nothing else to see.
