    you'd think it would have more of the long, drawn out gameplay variety. but it actually plays extremely quickly for the size (it takes up the entire mapgrid <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
    and the fighting seems to take place only where all the res nodes are NOT. very strange if you ask me.

    Yes.

    We had NSTR to test our maps, the commander mode, doing particle systems and test how could a skulk climb on the walls.

    It didn't help for what you were trying to do. I know what's being rendered without turning on that damned wireframe. Anyway, it's not the most useful bit of 'em all, but whatever.

    You can download a small mod using it here:

    It's simply the compiled version of the <a href='http://collective.valve-erc.com/index.php?doc=1081854378-22165000&page=1' target='_blank'>Tutorial at the VERC collective</a>.
    James "jim_the_coder" Leece did it and i take no credit for it at all.

    Just extract the files into a folder in your half-life directory e.g. <i>"C:\Steam\SteamApps\myemail@provider.com\Half-Life\test"</i>.
    Take the <i>cg.dll</i> and the <i>cgGL.dll</i> and copy them to your "Windows\system32\" folder.
    Now start the mod and you are able to play Half-Life SP or MP with the glow effect.

    In order to get other maps working either copy the bsps, wads and everything else necessary to run the map in your "test" folder, or take the "client.dll" and the "cgprograms" folder from the directory and copy them to your ns or dod or whatever folder. It's very buggy this way and of course you aren't able to play online but you can at least check the map out.

    <i> Tip: In-Game you can set the command "cg_blur_steps" to a different number to a get a stronger or weaker effect. 4 is Default and 0 is off.</i>

    I attached an image of rebirth to show you that it works with everymap, also take a look at the fps. Usually I have 99-100 with my gf4ti 4200 and athlon xp2600+.

    Yeah...probably would..but no more so (for lower end cards) than detail textures...and that's optional...couldn't they code in with a switch r_coolgloweffect... hehehe

    well the point of bumping this was to show that widow really has the aesthetic power when it comes to lighting. out of all the maps, widow's lighting came out best in the "glow" mod. So it looks goooood!!!

Having said that the speeds you could achieve with the bunny are phenomenal and the unusual layout probably makes such assumptions irrelevant. One hell of a fantastic original ns map. Ill volunteer for a playtest anytime, please could i try and get it played at the next regs on my home server?

What paladin has going there is he has his own little "minimod" with the glow effect working in it and the necessary files to run ns_widow.

    all i can say is WOW. this is an AWESOME architecturally and textureally made map, even almost dares to break the 800 w-poly limit a couple times <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> comm w-polys up to 1100

    my one and ONLY gripe is: how is the gameplay on it?
    the hives are all a stonesthrow from eachother, and that bottom left corner seems so empty w/o a hive, it's a large map, but if the marines fight their way up to the hives, the game is over. the layout is kinda screwy, but OMG a BEAUTIFUL map.

    and don't sit in the comm chair for too long, the entire top of the map is infested and all of the floors have the same infested texture.
