Does Ns Work With Cs:cz?

<div class="IPBDescription">I can't find my Counter-Strike OEM CD :(</div> I am an idiot. I always laugh at the guys who posted "OMG, I lost my CD". Stupid them? Stupid me!!!

Anyway, question:
I can buy Half-Life for £6.66 - not the end of the world.
I could also buy Counter-Strike: Condition Zero instead, for 16.99

a) does NS work with CS: CZ? (i.e. allows me to register a steam ID)
b) any pointers towards whether it's worth the extra 10 quid? I am not interested in Counter-Strike multiplay (NS all the way), just SP.

So, to underline the important question - does NS work with CS:CZ, meaning, will it give me a Steam-ID?

I <i>think</i> DoD retail CD keys work with Steam and that was a fairly recent release.

You'd be pretty safe on a CS:CZ CD key considering the multiplayer of that will be able to work along side the traditional CS. Since the traditional CS now requires Steam (the latest version) then CS:CZ needs Steam and so it would be pointless shipping it with a incompatible CD key.

Do you still have normal HL installed? (Any WON mod, not steam)
I can tell you how to extract your CD-Key from the registry
IIRC, CZ is a singleplayer mod.. meaning it may not work with steam

Every mod has worked so far. CS, DOD, Blueshift, Opposing force etc.
I suspect CZ will work too

Thanks for the advice everyone, I got DoD which was pretty cheap, and that settled that.

I did not realize CS:CZ wasn't out yet, but yeah, I could not have gotten it anyway.

CS:CZ is NOT a Half-Life mod. It is a stand alone product. This means it is <b>very</b> doubtful that a CS:CZ cd-key would be compatible with Half-Life products. Just because it's from the same company, does <b>not</b> mean that the cd-keys will be the same. They won't be.

When Half-Life 2 is released, do you reckon they'd let you use a Half-Life 2 cd-key to play Half-Life 1? No, of course they won't. That's like giving away two games for the price of one. I mean, i don't see my Microsoft Office product key working under steam, i mean... they both run on the same OS.....

*EDIT: And yes, CS:CZ will most probably come with Steam built into it, as Half-Life 2 probably will too. But when you enter your Half-Life 1 cd-key into Steam, you don't enter it to get a Steam account, you enter it to play Half-Life specifically. You can sign up for a Steam account completely for free having never purchased a single VALVe product, you just can't play the games.
