In case 3.0 is out by then , you can.
But because of 3.0 being a steam only game you currently have to be connected to the internet to start a lan game.
But "<b>maybe</b>" valve will have finished offline lan support by then.

Yep. You are right, but they are working on it.

Even if you had the 3.0 beta client files for everyone, you wouldnt be able to set up a server, because the dev team keeps the server .dlls secret (as far as I know), and even if you had those, you wouldnt be able to play because every single 3.0 beta player has to be authed as either a veteran or a constellation member to not be kicked by the server software.

Only hope for you will be that 3.0 will be released before your lan starts.

    Exactly.

In fact, anyone who donates a server to the 3.0 testing effort (While it's much appreciated) has to sign over the root password of the box. They don't want the server .dll's getting anywhere to ANYBODY.

And since the const/vet/PT icons are coded into the game itself via steam ID... Heh. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Patience is a virtue. Wait for 3.0.. wait for Steam LAN support. It'll be here.

Good news everyone. You can run 3.0 on WON. This means that as long as WON is still running you will not have to worry about getting everyone an internet connection to play in a LAN.

The other good news is that by the time of that LAN, Feburary 21st ish, 3.0 should be public. As long as everything goes smoothly and that the server dlls are released.
