Some people do make 2 versions of transparent pics for the reasons you have found to be an issue when you were working on yours. Hope this helps. I made the transparerent colour the colour of the forum's background (so u can use it on any dark background) and changed all simillar colours in your banner that I didn't want transparent to black.

Lower them to the lowest possible amount w/o losing the quality and stuff.
