<div class="IPBDescription">read the sticky....</div> Im still not totally sure on how to run my maps with steam. Where do I need to point the files (rmf etc) so that they will compile and run within ns with steam running. I still dont quite understand it...
there is a folder the final .BSP needs to be placed, which you may have to create: <drive>:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\<YourEmailAddress>\HalfLife\<Mod>\maps
by default, the location would be c:\program files\steam\steamapps\user@domain.com\halflife\ns\maps
after you compile it, dump it in this folder so steam will pick it up.
I'm looking up some info to see if there are command line options to start the map automatically, and will let you know.
Also your map has to be a "valid" map for ns to pick it up in the file browser. That means somewhere on your map you need the following:
ns_<mapname> for the title info_mapinfo info_player_start (seperated completley from the rest of the map) two info_team_starts, one for each team one team_hive (set to team two) one team_command (set to team one)
Without all of this your map will not be recognized by ns as an ns map, and will not be an available option to load in the map browser. (I don't think it works with the +map <mapname> console command either)

Grrrrr <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> AFAIK this is the state of things. We can all thank steam for this added difficulty. (along with our new inability to run the whole deal from a command line) That said there really shouldn't be much of a functional difference between 3.0 and 2.1 for us to need to run it as 3.0 for preview testing. Obviously playtests of the map will require 3.0, but they'll require a server to run it too, so things are different there. In short, I say use 2.1 and won to handle everything.
