    The commander is a RTS-style player that views the map from a top-down perspective. He/she gives orders to the marine players on the server using their mouse and voicecomm. They also place buildings for the marines to construct. The commander is vital for the success of the marine side.

    All this info is in FAQs and guides somewhere I'm sure.
