but its a bit to plain.. and needs some more detail to make it look more like a gun
ive ran into a problem that i dont know how to fix... im a nub. The poly count is thru the freaking roof and i dont know how to reduce it. using 3d studio max. need to fix it b/c my comp lags way to much.
With Boxes:No more than 5 Segments on Height, width etc unless your aiming for Doom 3 or Half Life 2 models.
Cylinders:12 Sides or 9 or 8.
o yea how do i reduce poly count?

make cylinders that are only 8 sides to replace the others. Also you might want to try Milkshape (milkshape3d.com) because it's easier to control the poly count with it.
Lol, I think it's pretty damn good, especially for someone with not that much modelling experience...
For the rest of you, the gun consists of a "lighter" and a "ballpoint pen" amongst other things... please... watch the movie, lol <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
That is exactly what I think. But someone told me there was a 60 day (or so...) trial period for MAX...
Anyway, model is just consisting of simple structures that are only roughly connected. Do what the otheres said, use lower poly objects from the beginning on.
Considering it's price, stealing 3DSMax is comparative to stealing a car, or a very expensive computer.

30 day trial which i believe watermarks renders.
Here's how it looks: <a href='http://www.bondpix.com/images/large/Beaulieu2002/Golden_Gun_TMWTGG.jpg' target='_blank'>http://www.bondpix.com/images/large/Beauli..._Gun_TMWTGG.jpg</a>
and here's the bullet that was supposed to kill bond <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> : <a href='http://www.jbdiner.com/bond/09tmwtgg/bullet.jpg' target='_blank'>http://www.jbdiner.com/bond/09tmwtgg/bullet.jpg</a>
The Golden gun has a Squary Structure.
Now ive seen everything..... a goldengun with a scope.... hah.....

30 day trial, doesn't watermark,
you just can't export to anythign useful...

Maybe his father is a professional model maker... Besides it's not our buisness how he got it.
I would suggest taking some of the modeling tutorials that are stickied up top of the forum ^^
learn how to use faces, it will make some of the more complex shapes and pieces easier to do
/e: I read your other topic, and it seems that you're very proud about both of the models... Don't be, you have absolutely no reason to be proud(sorry to say this). Seriously, look at some gun pics, tutorials, anything.
