    That isn't an error, that's an add new hardware screen. Have you tried letting it search for a driver?

    Yeah, but when I hit serach it can't find anything! I really need to burn some cd's too because I'm about to reformat and I dont want to download everything again on my 56k. Right now it looks like I'm going to have to reformat because I can't find a solution to this.... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Being a retarded, I tried clicking the picture.

    But you just have to install software? Or it's asking to install the drive, but it can't find it?

    Don't feel bad, I nearly freaked when I saw it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Most CD-RW drives are plug and play, where are you searching?

    okay after I hit search for it to automatically find the drivers, it says "Cannot install this software" blah blah blah.

    Then it says when I connect to the internet, it will find one for me......bs.

    I got the newest VIA drivers and when I installed those, they just shut my computer off. Then I had to go into safemode or it would keep freezing. <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Having to use your computer in safe mode means something is going wrong (unless I understood wrong <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    A google search showed me this:

    <a href='http://www.helpdrivers.com/ingles/listado/panel.asp?marca=Via&perif=discos' target='_blank'>http://www.helpdrivers.com/ingles/listado/...ia&perif=discos</a>

    The first one sounds appropriate, but use at your own risk.

    Okay guys, I tried everything and nothing worked. After I tried your link MonsE and this other BIOS file I got, my computer wouldnt even load past bios settings....lol. Luckily, I had my old Win98 floppy and I reformatted.

    It's kind of funny because within the first 30 seconds of getting the internet back, I had got the blaster worm <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It's gonna suck downloading all my shizzle on this 56k....but hey, I don't pay $19.99 a month for nothin'!

    (btw: Thanks to everyone who helped!)
