For an upcoming huge NS tournament
Hello,

Well, to get to the point, I am looking for a good bit of custom maps ... around 25-30. This is a Natural-Selection tournament consisting of huge epic battles for territories on 30 person servers with each battle spread out on servers and territories, lasting around 12 hours each. When I said huge, I literally meant HUGE. I expect this tournament to be a great success, but we don't want to use the same 7 maps in this gigantic tournament. A link to the basic intro is http://www.battleforthegalaxy.com/default.asp. Check around the site for different bits of information.
The basic galaxy layout is here available on the main page for veiwing reference.

There are 22 territories and 44 total maps ... (2 maps per territory), and we want the variety of maps to be large, but not a different map for every territory.

This is your chance to get your maps famous, and to get them used in a real tournament.

If you wish to send me a map, or get further information, please contact me via:

AIM: IcEProdigy935
MSNM: twiztid_ace@hotmail.com
E-mail: _prodigy_@charter.net

If you want to send an e-mail, please send it to the second one provided.

I expect a lot of maps, and expect this to be a great tournament, and your help will be greatly appreciated.

If we choose to download maps due to lack of them being sent to me, the owner/creator of the map will be notified and asked permission.

Thank you,
_Prodigy_

Just something you should keep in mind...

    1. No all maps are created equal. In other words, stick with the offical maps because they tend to be the most ballanced and fair. They are also what most people have played and are use to.

    2. No one likes to play ugly maps. Have high standards for the maps you plan to use. ns_hydrosity should make it, but ns_untexturedcube shouldn't.

I'm sure you will be able to find at least 10 good maps you could use, but don't expect it to be easy. Lots of maps have been made for natural selection and finding ten needles in the haystack that is the internet isn't going to be a walk in the park.

On another note, your tourny looks like a similar set up that I have seen used in DoD. It would be cool if it pans out, but I may suggest a smaller scale until it attacts more attention. You could always have multipule tournaments going on a one time.

nsworld.ns-central.co.uk would probly be your best bet to find the best maps. IMO.

Yeah, I heard of this, and I thought it was dead. So, the tournament is officially a zombie now. RAWR. BRAINNSSSS.

You can download ns_phobia at my site (sig). I remember someone from BFTG mailed me some time ago asking me about the older version of phobia, heh.

I would assume classic, seeing as combat isn't even released atm (nor does it look to be soon) and fun maps would make no point in what he's talking about.

My map (current title ns_gothica) probably won't be ready in time, although I might make it for some kind of post-season-tournament if you do that. (or side games between season, or next season, whatever) Anyways, interesting idea you have there.... In a way it looks like planetside overgame but the actual fps portion is handled through natural selection, which is a very cool idea.

depending on how long it takes for 3.x to release, and when the 'battle' is sheduled to begin.... they may actually be able to do a 3.x tourny.

Personally, since its just in the prep-stage, i'd wait till 3.x was release before launching the BFG.

Well isn't that just a dumb question?
I mean, combat isn't out yet and no one likes ugly cube funmaps.
So it should be classic maps eh?

You say on your website that the battles last 12 hours. Is this 12 hours ingame in one map?

    WOAH!

You might want to be more specific with your rules if you want custom maps for your tourny, such as making it so the hives are 1min plus running from marine start as a marine (rather than 30 secs for standard maps). Specify spacing between hives. Etc.

The maps could become known as NS Epic maps.

When www.thehivemind.org was working I downloaded "ALL" of them and stuck them on a CD. Also I been frequenting the mapping section of the forums for maps too.

I think I have about 250 maps on the CD

Yet that's what draws people such as you to the website ... to finish reading the rules =P.

The battles are going to be spread out on servers ... very fast ones if I might add... Keep your maps standard ... to a maximum standard... not superbly ... out there ...

We want good maps ... but we don't need you guys to over-do yourself. As for these being "epic" maps ... I see what you mean ... and it really wouldn't hurt ... but could you draw 32 people to play on this map for a certain amount of time without boring themselves to hell?

If you want ns_glory_beta1 can be used, it does have some balance problems, infact very big ones, but is still playable. Go to my website (In Sig) to download it, or get it via NSWorld.
