How do you set up Worldcraft to execute with steam?

co_maps are only used in 3.0.... but you can run it under 2.x just like a regular map with 1 hive/com chair... just so you can run around in it....

you just cant play it until 3.0 come out fully

as far as making a co_map run with steam, once you compile it, dump it in the <drive>\program files\steam\steamapps\<youremail>\halflife\ns\maps folder...

    run steam
    in console, type
    map <themapyourtesting>

should work, but i havent tried it since the 3.x server files aren't released and you cant start a 3.x game in multimode.... you'd have to be starting up in a 2.x console.

You can't make a 3.0 server so you can't full test your own co map. The ns3.0 beta is missing a vital .dll file for security reasons.

like i said, you can only test it with a 2.x

One question from me, how do i run a map in steam without compiling it if you know what I mean. I can run ns 2.0 with the dlls lightning blue created but its giving me errors when trying to compile the map into ns *with steam running*

you <i><b>MUST</b></i> compile a map before its run...

p.s. close steam..... who needs it running while you're compiling anyways.

    I leave STEAM running while I compile. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ....

you have it in for me, dont you?

my map takes like an hour or 2 to compile on my home computer (maybe thats why i do it on the servers at work in 20 minutes <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ). My home machine needs all the resources it can get... Steam can hog a chunk sometimes.

Check out Dell man. Seriously, they have low prices on some top-notch systems. I have a custom built (sounds like a car for computer geeks like me) PC, with 2.66Ghz P4 CPU and 1GB Ram. Needless to say it compiles faster then lightning. Not really though because RAD is a **** on any system. lol

Over here Dell make some of the most overpriced PCs you can find <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Much cheaper to source the parts yourself!

did i mention the servers at work are Dell PowerEdge Quad Xeon 2.8Ghz...

I was looking at a new Dell system for home. Mines custon now, but its way outdated.... which happens within a week.... computers are like paper towels.

Saw an ad on tv for a Dell for $399... may still be cheaper to buy a custom, since i already have the HDs and stuff...

but even a new case/ps and MB and CPU can get up to $400, depending on what you buy, so why not get a Dell with support for a year for that price...

this should be in a different forum... lol
