High Fps Yet Extremly High Comp Lag

<div class="IPBDescription">help please</div> i recently installed a radeon9600XT along with another stick of 256 MB or SD ram AND a new 80 gig Hard drive. my fps will be a constant60 in battles and my lag only 20-50 yet my screen skips, sometimes ill want to move left or right but my guy keeps running foward for about 2-3 seconds until i gain control of him again, this is happening in all HL modes lately i am really confused, ive tried fps_max 100 and still no fix <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Your problem's probity that you have to much choke. To find out your choke type net_graph 3 in the console. If you have somewhere between 20-50 choke constantly thats your problem. Your fix is to type rate 10000 in the console. That should get rid of your choke and make you game smoother.

disable vsync and turn off tripple buffer. if that doesn't fix it there is a registry tweak to stop it from rendering ahead, but yoiu should turn vsync off first (force it off in the driver control panel thinger)

If you're running ZoneAlarm, try shutting it down and playing. I had the same problem awhile back when I used ZoneAlarm Pro.. Anytime I was running it, I had the wierd "lag" controls.

how do i turn off vsync? no i do not run zonealarm on my comp

To turn off Vsinc go to your video card under display settings and click advanced. From there go to your 3D tab and look for something that says Vsinc. I still think you should try out the rate fix I suggested. I had the same problem when I got my new computer and it worked for me.

VSync is an FPS Tweak nothing else (it might pump up your fps some but it will NOT fix this problem)

What it is propbably is something along the lines of what nuke said.

Run net_graph 3 and see what your choke and loss are. If they are above 0 then we probably found your problem <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> (from there you need a HL tweak guide, seeing how as just putting rate to 9999 dosn't always do it)
