Is this just me or is it a steam problem

    Steam main servers seem to be down. At least i don't know anyone who can log in to steam right now. It's been this way for a few hours now.
    Propably just some Maintanance. It will likely be back up by tomorrow.

    Actually it did just work for me. Maybe not all servers are down.

    And by the way: for those kinds of (little) questions just check the IRC channel #naturalselection on GamesNet. There are always some helpful people.

    seams steam is back up an running, i was playing it last nite @ bout 1230 or so. there website isnt down, but is getting hit with a lot of traffic.

    well i only read the thread title, it said "steam, n e one else have any problems" and im gogn to answer No. no one else has ever had any problems with steam, so reformat your c drive.

    this just in, steam acctualy has been hacked!
    It was on the website just before it went down!
    We do not no when it will be up. but i reckon at least a few hours!
    So we dont need to re-format!

    Strange; I couldn't connect at first, but on the second attempt it worked and I was happily playing a game of sven co-op. When I left and tried to reconnect a little later Steam had stopped working again.

    Hope they sort this out soon.

    Well try reading the post in future.

    The Steam network still appears to be down. Website aswell.

    EDIT: I just got into the site and into the forums. It's just really busy, that's all.

    I've found that the two best ways of dealing with a steam problem are :

    1) Logging out, and logging back in
    2) Deleting the ClientRegistry.blob in your steam folder. This makes you re-instal an upgrade and usually fixes small problems that you have.

    Also, try going on the steam forums and searching for your problem. It's highly likely that someone already asked this and has gotten a response.

    Steam wasn't hacked. If you read the steam site it says it was caused by a power outage.

    Heh, pretty funny. I'm usually playing every night, but last night I had a load of homework, I guess it worked out good.

    If you are having problems it is always a good idea to check the website. If the website itself is down for some reason, then you know something is going on that is external to just your computer. BTW Thanks for that information Mr. Mojo, sounds useful.

    Yes, someone posted a threat to ddos attack steam, I guess it came through.
