Help Commanding

I've been playing ns for awhile and i recently started commanding games when no one was jumping in the chair at the beginning. I understand all about upgrades and what structures do what and all that. My problem comes with upgrades and electrifying things. Whenever i click on a structure to bring up say the electrication icon for an rt i'll click on that icon and then the structure will recycle. This happens whenever i try to electrify an rt, upgrade an armory and all that. What am i doing wrong here? Someone suggested to me that i need commanding binds where can i get some?

Another few quick questions

i've been told that setting a waypoint is just pointing at a room and right clicking. is that all i have to do because i usually hear a voice saying move to your waypoint when a commander sets one?

and completely switching directions how do you bind a key to capslock? It won't let me do this in the general control settings and typing "bind capslock duck" in the console does nothing

thanks

Binds are just commands that you tie to a key. To bind a key, type the following into your console:

    bind "x" "action"
x is the key you are binding to (it can be any key)
action is the command you want
    Just remove the "s

That's because the command is called +duck, not just 'duck'.

As for the bug you apparently have; Try using the hotkeys instead. These are:
    Q, W, E, R
    A, S, D, F
    Z, X, C, V
They match the layout of the buttons on the bottom right when you're in the CC, (So if you wanted to drop a TF and electrify, you'd first press 'Q' to bring up the structure menu and then 'Z' to select the TF. Place it, and then to electrify it simply click on it and hit 'A').
Using the hotkeys is far easier and more effecient than clicking on the buttons.

...and in some cases, can only be done by using shortcuts. If you want to cancel the recyclign of an RT, often you can only press "V". (The button does not always show up.)

Yes, thats all you have to do. You'll see a blue circle pop up on your screen when you right click but only while you have that marine selected. That means if you have another marine selected, and he has no waypoint, the previous waypoint wont show up.

The sound is just confirmation that it was successfully placed, and added for effect, as if you are talking to the soldier and actually telling him to move to his waypoint.

Good luck in commanding! And you can come back here anytime if you have questions about anything. We'll answer em.

Ive never had a problem electifying anything. You must either be hitting the wrong button (bottom right instead of the top left like you should be...) or hitting the "v" key which is the recycle/cancel key for that stuff.

WPs just select marines and right click.

Oh and about Caps Lock. Try this:

    bind "Caps Lock" "<command>"

If that doesnt work than its because it's a hotkey or somethin. That would mean numlock and scrolllock you can't bind either.

As for commander binds, you dont need any. The commander hotkeys are all you need. I do perfectly find without any medspam keys and what not. Heck you can spam ammo/meds easy enough with out it. Don't know what you would need besides those hotkeys honestly. Just get used to em.
