    Shotgun is definately THE onos weapon. It takes of health in bursts, so defeats the foolish redemp onos. It can also do more damage in the first 10 seconds than a HMG would. If you have 2 shottgunners going round together, (esp with Jets,) the onos (NOT oni...) have no chance. With lvl3 the map is yours. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The same applies to fades, as long as you can fire close enough to the fade so that the shot hits the tiny hitbox, and not too close so as to have your head removed from your shoulders by the fade.

This is usually coming from people who haven't practiced with the pistol as much. The pistol is very powerful and accurate; I consider it the best weapon of the game. If the pistol is firing and sounds like a LMG, then I say a script is involved. You can hear the difference. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    no you can't. clicking is faster than a script. The rof of fire in 2.0 is slow enough for my grandmother to max out. Keep in mind it's not only the speed at which you click, but also the timing of each click. If you are clicking too fast, some of your clicks are wasted and it may cause you to shoot slower than you are capable of.

    That has been called a myth by someone who I am inclined to believe, but whether true or not, redemption Onos are so worthless that you really don't need to go to the trouble of countering them.

    Make that 3.33 seconds. After 3.33 seconds, the HMG is more damaging. And that is not even taking into account the shotgun's spread.

    The HMG has much more range, a greater clip size, and, after 3.33 seconds, more damage. I don't see how the shotgun could be said to be better than it against Onos.

    Shells from the shotgun take the onos down to just over its redeption limit, then the next shell kills it, or at least leaves it seriously vulnerable to fire from other guns.

    what is the _special command. I tried using it for a pistol script at a lan when we were playing 1.0 but it just says invalid command. It doesn't seem to work in 2.xx either

    lol, like me. I can tap away with the best of them but can I get each shot on target..... > still waiting for my new mouse though.

    I think getting a new crosshair would help aswell - anyone have a good link they can give to a nice crosshair?

    Not really. From experiences playing Combat, HMGs will take down onos like a hot knife through butter. Besides, if I can dig up the numbers it shows HMGs do way more damage. But i do agree about your fade comment. Shotties are great for fast moving lifeforms like skulks or fades. Mainly leaping skulks, celerity bhoppin skulks, and blinking/celerity fades. The only time you can get a shot at these speed demons is when they stop to attack. Shotties are great at "one chance, one kill".

    Oh and lucid is right. K

    a Civilian,
    Allow me to clairfy. I still wil drop shotties as a commander to deal with an onos (in ns2,) because:

    >They are cheaper.
    >They take of bursts of health, so the onos does not realise it is time to retreat until it is too late.*
    >The spread of the weapon increases the chance that one of my n00b rines will hit a rear-leg hitbox.

    As for "not taking into account the spread of the shotgun", I think this would not matter. The onos is a melee fighter, so if it is doing its job it will be right up close 'n personal; time to shoot. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    *I still think it defeats redemption... Ah well. Any onos who takes redemption deserves to die. TY Booglesteinsky for that support. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    My simple question is, is there a script or setting that allows the pistol to unload faster than the default speed?

    I have a good connection and sometimes I literally turn a corner as a skulk and die immediatley to a marine with a pistol. I'm not saying these players have no skill - because they obviously have to aim and hit a small moving target but... whenever I unload a pistol the shots come out as fast as I can click my mouse - I'm not sure of the damage value for the pistol rounds but would have thought it would take 4 shots atleast to kill.

    Don't take this as a whine - just a straight forward answer would be nice! <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Yes... and don't use it. Scripting is a horrible excuse for skills and will get you in trouble on a lot of servers. If your not dexteritous enough to click your mouse button fast, then perhaps you should't be playing FPS type games.

    p.s. Not really directed towards you, but more so anyone that uses/is thinking about using a script along those lines.

    To everything it's use, you can kill an onos with a LMG if you know how to do it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    yeah, you stand around with a bunch of HMGers, when they run out of ammo and onos has turned tail you start shooting its rim.
  • KabotKabot Join Date: 2004-01-18 Member: 25445Members
    Like in cs, i rather depend on skill than scripts.

    Here is an equation:

    skill = 5
    aim = 5
    script = 5 - skill - aim
    skill + aim = 10

    so therefore:

    skill + aim = 10

    skill + script = 0

    aim + script = 0

    script = -5

    skill + aim + script = 0

    Just depends on how you use it.

    As for pistol scripting, i reckon it would be idiotic. The pistol is used for precision range weakening before swiping them down with the lmg. Why give yourself a rediculous level of accuracy? Most people miss the first shot.

    As for mwheelup, you try to turn the mouse wheel and move the mouse AND aim at the same time. It is a fewlish idea. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    Its not hard, i use scrollfire: makes the shots go slower but more accurate.
