Have you tried checking <a href="http://www.valve-erc.com/entities/?entity=env_beam" target="_blank">here?</a>  Because if you can't find the answer on VERC, you probably won't find it anywhere.

Getting ring beams to work can be a bit tricky but it's all explained <a href="http://www.chatbear.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=35,1012811489,9245&id=144837&boardid=653&view=flatold" target="_blank">here</a>. Just read the first post and ignore the flaming that follows.
Note that it's a <b>killer</b> for your fps, so should be used sparingly.
An example can be found in c4a1 inside \Valve\pak0.pak(use <a href="http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~quark/" target="_blank">QuArK</a> to view).

Ahh, yes, that post... /me counts the number of times that's happened when dealing with maze. <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
