    yeah got some more stuff done this week

    - starboard skylight (a view of the planet nerva and the outside of achio)<b> screenie comming</b>
    - starboard engine (working on lighting there)
    - hallway north of starboard generator... yet to be named <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    - port ION cannon

    next im going to create the Maintenance bay which also will have a nice view into space and the exterior of achio

    I think today the Maintenance bay and some other stuff will be finished (lighting tweaks not since that takes time, but the architecture should be no problem)

    Sweet, the only thing I think looks weird are those... things that stick out (with the red flare). The texture looks really out of place. Otherwise, really nice.

    I took the idea from the homeworld and cataclysm carriers/frigats.     <b>A little info for the ones who havent read the briefing/backstory:</b>

    This is a new type of engine called material diplacement engine. In theory it uses the ships own weight energy to its advantage and propels the ship using this weight and of course the standart way for propulsion which in turn makes the ship use less energy and also faster. In theory if the ship is fully loaded it should be a very small percentage faster <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    The only problem with this engine which has been discovered while using the meteorites arround the planet Nerva as target practice for Achio's weapons systems. The meteorites where atrackted towards the ship. And there where some cloaked (bacterium using sensory chambers) meteorites which where detected to late and one of them impacted on the starboard side near the starboard generator.

    Well since I'm in a good mood I'll give you a preview shot of the maintenance bay skylight <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    Keep in mind this is just preview and at the moment only 110 r_speeds so I can add some nice stuff in the bay to. Its going to be 3 times larger then this and in this location theres going to be a flight control console and some more stuff I can think of... Oh well just imagin it in the picture, this was more a preview of the skylight there...

    Looking from the maintenance bay towards the exterior of the starboard engine...

    <span style='color:gray'>I'm also thinking of some smooth redish glow emited from the planet on the starboard of achio</span>

    I'm interested to know, what was making the hive room appear pitch black? was it a misplaced light entity, or a wrong entry in the brightness field? or something completely different?

    I though it was a light, the hive entity itself or the location of the hive etc..., but ingame I noticed that the entire ceiling above the hive was pitchblack since my skulk weapons where going black to.

    THen I came to realize after scanning the area excesively that there was a brush overlapping another brush near the hive.
    I never noticed it due to all the mindboggling vertexmanipulation in this area and ingame shadows. I discovered it while walking along as marine using a flashlight (by coincidence)

    But once I fixed this overlapping the pitchblack hive was once again in its former glory <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo--> Oh well I'm just glad its nolonger anoying me <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Just a thought; I hope you're gonna redo the "USS Achio etc." label on the outside of the ship. It looks a bit too "new" and perhaps even out-of-place.

    The skybox is fugly. I'm sure you can find a better one on the WADfather, plz change it.
    Also, the lighting is (sometimes) a bit too bland for my tastes. More creative use of spotlights could go a long way. Make it look as good as ns_nothing!
    The architecture and design, on the other hand, is excellent, and the texturing is solid. With a bit of work this could be official-quality, gj. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Sorry to say, I had the exact same idea. The skybox <b> is </b> fugly. How about actually modelling some of the asteroids---that way, you could have them spin or even drift slowly past (set 'em up as func_trains or whatever, I suppose).

    it was a 10 minute job in photoshop but due to Darkati ive gotten interested in terragen. Nice and easy to use program.
    Since the sky is story based I'm still going to create my own sky...

    that idea of asteroids drifting past is nice but it all depends if I have room in the maximum entity count when the map is complete and ofcourse the r_speeds I have to spare in the areas where they should drift. (good idea but has to be put on hold as a last minute entry perhaps)

    on thing that irks me is that the outside skybox looks really grainy and it takes quality away from your excellent windowed rooms.
