Love it, great sound, great reception. May not fit your definition of "durable" however its the best headset I could find for the price.

    Try these bad boys:

    <a href='http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/zalmanheadphonesreview.php' target='_blank'>http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/za...honesreview.php</a>

I have a pair and they are FANTASTIC. They are only missing a microphone... I bought a nice condenser stick mike and it works pretty well. Nice long cord, and for as thin as the cord is, I've run over it on my chair a few times with no damage. 60 bucks or so.

Ah... just a little edit... If you don't have a 5.1 or better surround, they won't be THAT much better than similar headphones, BUT, there isn't anything that beats these for SURROUND SOUND headphones.

    I've been happy with <a href='http://www.labtec.com/index.cfm?page=gear/details&contentid=618&crid=8&crid2=9&countryid=1001&languageid=1' target='_blank'>These</a> (fixed, bleh)

Though I've only had them for a few months so I couldn't tell you if they're as durable as they say.

I had these headphones, they were pretty good except the cords twisted themselves into a tangled mess eventualy ruining the headphones.

Good old gamevoice. Had these headphones for a year w/o a problem. Got the whole game voice set for $5 at radio shack too.

I'm using koss pro 3aa, I can tell you one thing about durabillity at least, I've never had head phones that didn't break at that loud a volume before <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->. As for the cord/that head strap thing I don't know, haven't been using em for long.

I really like the sound but there's no mic.

Koss Optimus Pro-50MX. Comfortably padded, reasonably sturdy (well, they aren't spring steel), and a noise-cancelling boom mike with an option to use a windscreen to kill pops. Excellent headset, been using this one for going on four to eight years now. $35 at Radio Shack, but they discontinued the line.

(edit) And why go for a surround-sound set of headphones? You only HAVE two ears. Not six. Grab an Aureal Vortex. Creative bought them out and is sitting on the patent... but it allows you to have *true* '3D sound' with a simple pair of headphones. And not these surround-sound monstrosities. I hate Creative for pulling that crap to protect their speaker sales division. (/edit)

any non-plantronics headset can be considered durable if you don't throw it around your room for whatever reason. Plantronics just have a horrible solidity they have to be stayed away from (personal experience)
