Aliens Moving Too Quick Cloaked?

Some seem to move too fast.
There is no sensory chamber about. As a fade you can either "walk cloak" or "crouch cloak". If you "crouch cloak" you move faster than when you "walk cloak". A skulk as far as I know can only walk and cannot crouch [Though when you crouch on a wall you just drop down]. I have seen skulks stay cloaked but move as quickly as if they were crouching [But not as fast as if they were running]. Is this hacking or is there a legit way for people to do this? I've seen this on players who otherwise seem perfectly fine. Thanks, Ed.

Meh, it's the HL engine. I know some tricks to move a bit faster, but what does it really matter? You are all going to get there sooner or later.

One thing else is that it could also be your config. There was a problem with walking speeds or something like that where you need to do cl_forwardspeed XXXXX, but i'm really not sure.

It's a fairly well known thing (especially amongst clans) to set 'cl_forwardspeed' to 1000, which allows for faster walking while cloaked, while still maintaining silence. Usually 'cl_sidespeed' is set to 1000 as well to allow you to move at 45 degrees when strafing and moving forwards.

But keep in mind you're using the console, and that means you're a HACKING EXPLOITER!

    I have cl_sidespeed 1000 in autoexec.cfg, it helps strafing

I hope they fix this for 3.0...

As far as I know, cl_forwardspeed is defaulted to 1000. I change my cl_sidespeed to 1000 because if I don't, it just feels so wierd compared to everything else I play.

Remember that walking speed is faster than crouching. Keep that in mind as a marine. Though, with cl_sidespeed at 1000, you will make noise if you try and walk and turn at the same time. Little FYI.

However, keep in mind that the faster you are moving, the less you are cloaked. You are not fully invisible until standing still--otherwise, others can see you with a flashlight/good eyes.

cl_forwardspeed defaults to 1000. It is true that you can increase it to bring walking speed up, but it caps out at running speed. More importantly, cloaking has nothing to do with walking and everything to do with your speed. If you set your forwardspeed high then walk will go too fast and it won't cloak you anymore(nor will it silence your footsteps). That's why you decloak when turning too fast, falling, etc, even if you're walking.

I have no idea what the original poster is talking about with skulk crouching(which does nothing but disable wallclimbing, primarily used for bunnyhopping), but maybe the skulk had celerity?

    This forwadspeed is an clientthing.

Lets say its 1000 than you will run that fast.
If you press shift now its only 1/5 of that. So that its 200.

It can't go over 1000 cause it's capped by the server. But if you do forwardrunning at 500 it will be capped at this speed and walking will be at 100.

I don't know if this now was clear but I'm tired

And no its not a hack or exploit.
