Oh yeah, Merry Christmas

Optical mouses are bad for First Person Shooter games.

    Ask any marksman.

However, those are really neat for surfing the net and other game genres.

Not always. The Logitech Optical series is exceptionally good, very precise. With some of my christmas money I hope to grab one. Their VERY smoothe, and are great for twitch gaming.

My cheap optical mouse is absolutely fantastic for gaming. It's so fluid in comparison to my old ball mouse.

I have a Microsoft Optical, and it hooks into my comp via a PS/2 USB cable. I've tried the mouse out with Counter-Strike, and it works so much better than my old ball mouse.

I'm a sniper in a lot of games and if anything, my accuracy has gone up the optic mouse. When I told people my score from the sniper school and shooting tests in America's Army Online half of them accused me of cheating =3

sorry homer, but whatever 'marksmen' you're talking to either have broken mice or haven't actually used them and are just talking crud to you =/

edit: seeing I'm blowing my own trumpet might as well throw in that I've got a 102% accuracy rate in sniper scope... my most shameful accuracy is 98% but I blame the stupid bosses for the loss as I usually have 100 or higher until I reach them =3

For anyone who's not played sniper scope, the only way to increase your accuracy rating (and therefore get over 100%) is to kill multiple targets with a single shot

Why some ppl complain about optical mice???
I have a CHEAP (17€) Logitech one, and I've never got any problem... it's even better when you set the number of packets to 150-200 and at 200hz

I don't regreet my 3 old ball mice, the 3 of them were crappy

Don't ask me, then. I use a Logitech optical mouse right on the desk surface, and I'm an excellent sniper.

Depends on what kinda mouse. I used to have this cheap one that would skip when you moved it too fast, ugh, I couldn't stand having the mouse skip around whenever I turned too fast, so I got a nice Microsoft Optical mouse, it's comfy (more comfy then my last one for sure ) and smooth.

Wireless mouses are abit slackier especially in FPS'es, but optical mouses with wire is the same if not better than a ball mouse

See, the problem with the wireless concept is that it interferes with other wireless signals in your home. Mostly cordless phones in your house.

I guess the optical mouses we're getting here is similar to Last.'s.

It skips when you move too fast, and it doesn't move at all when you make a tiny move.

You're gonna hate your mouse in a short period of time. Spend $10 oin a decent one w/o your parents (or whoever got you the gift) knowing .

owies, that's what you get for using cheap mice then hom ^~

    I've only ever had the one optical mouse and it's always worked like a dream; on a fun note it does skip if you move it extremely fast like in that 'spank the monkey' flash game, but when i tried it with several ball mice out of exasperation, I actually found that they all skipped at those speeds too ^^;
Small movement-wise never had any trouble but like I say, I've only ever owned this one as far as optical mice go (though I did use a few friends opticals and some in university which seemed pretty much like mine =3 )

ooh! sounds like you've got one just like mine =D

mines is an old fuddy duddy microsoft explorer optical mouse; you can't get them like this anymore I hear... the new design doesn't have the 'hump' on it ^^
Anyways, mines is a 5 buttoner too and it's super useful in games like rocket crowbar 2

Well, yes. But unless your hand is made out of straw, you'll be able to pick it up. Besides, it's not like you wave it in the air like a wand.

well if it's heavier that means more pressure to move it for small adjustments. Kinda matters when you're sniping and I like a light mouse anyways ^^
