<div class="IPBDescription">I'M SO HAPPY =D</div> I'm just so happy!!! I guess I'm telling this to everyone!!!!

Just got school report, and I just found out I got the best physics grade in class!!! (but English however..... uhm..... not good)

I'm like, a physics nerd at school. Probably know more physics than some seniors (I'm a junior). And getting the best grade is like, great!!! I feel so proud!!!

And the course is IB Physics HL (for those of you who don't know, it's kinda like Advanced AP Physics)
Got a B+!! Second best grade was a C+!! And the teacher doesn't believe that anyone can get an A- in this course. Next semester, he'll be sorry!!

    Congrats,

    I know nothing about Physics so what you said makes it sound even more impressive <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well done. It's great getting the best grade in the class. I should know, I got the best for physics too <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> (about 3 years ago <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    Nice job. I take IB physics and I suck so much at it. Its my worse class. Then again Im not really good at sciences period. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Ok....if you know your Physics well, here's one from heat :

    What is the formula to calculate how much energy is gained from a power source in a certain amount of time?

    The funny thing is, I'm also a Physics nerd in school <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> but of course I'm not in university so what do I know :/

    I agree.

    That's why I'm doing well in IB Physics. The dudes from Geneva expect us to use logic to solve certain problems. I mean, when you do the exam, you have a formula sheat in front of you, so you don't memorize the forumlas.
    The guys from my class they just try to make the formula fit in the question, but don't use logic to do that. They just keep on trying, until they find an answer which isn't too extreme, like, having a projectile moving at 30m/s

    I'm getting like a 500% grade in French. It's so easy.

    But anyway I don't treally think formulas have to do with anything. If it does, it's making me forget stuff more easily.

    BTW, in my exams they don't have any formula sheets so....bleh :/

    Crazy HKCE exams with their no formula sheets rule....

    SIDE-NOTE : I use logic too, anyone who doesn't well....needs to learn logic whatever that means <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> I just realized your question and see that it was very easy <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I see how it can be a good test. But I think this is a clear case of question bias, whereby the way the question is asked affects the answers considerably. If someone just skims it they are asking for trouble.

    Btw this is part of the reason why I think detractors of the SAT are full of nonsense. Yes it's bad that you have to adapt specifically to the test with its strangeness but for smart people it is not that hard. As for this specifically, paying attention to questions, you have to do so for any test, and to those who can decipher the real meaning of the question in time belong the scores. It is quite telling who can tease the questions apart and who cannot.

    Not that I vouch for nor enjoy the SAT. I do think their planned for "improvements" are no improvements at all tho.. just the sham of the English lobby at work. They overrate themselves. Highly

    gj.

    BTW: what the hell does IB stand for ?

    I remember that my physics instructor 2 semesters ago had really weird grading policies that were fair yet strange.

    - Since you automatically lost a point for forgetting units, you got an automatic point for getting the units right. Which led to answers such as "I don't know m/s"
    - Frequent rounding was not only allowed, but encouraged.
    - You didn't necessarily have to get the answer right as long as you applied the methods correctly. This mainly came into effect since this instructor NEVER asked a very straightforward question. Having to adapt the simple harmonic oscillation formula to rotational motion was one question I particularly loathed on our last final.

    So, yeah, I have to agree that physics should not be about memorizing formulae as much as it should be about creative problem solving.
