Cant Hear Voice Communication

I just installed NS 2.0 and for some reason I can't hear anyone talking through the voice system. The little icon appears showing that they are talking, but I don't hear anything. I can hear people talking in other mods, just not NS. I have tried clicking every sound option in the HL options menus. I updated by soundblaster drivers to the latest version(AUD_EAX4DRV_031031).
System specs:
windows xp
Creative Soundblaster audigy gamer
amd xp 1800+
512 mb ram
asus a7n8x motherboard
