That is if valve cleans up their act and gets steam working within the next decade.
But NS on hl2 engine would rock and i don't think that anyone would have something negtive to say about it.
it's been some time since we heared from valve ha...i'm still expecting hl2 this month...

I have read a lot about hl2 i know everything about it, i know the physics and the "game play"
Every single mod hl2 will have Will kick every single **** of every game created now. Maybe except Blac and White 2. Mods for hl2 like
"In-charge" or "jurassic-rage" will be increadibly good. Having all the graphics that hl2 has and also having the physics. Now imagine NS for hl2 this game would be so good, i can't even imagine how nice it would be. I can't dream about a NS2, not even in my wettest dream. hahaaha
But i know there is only 10% chance for this to happen but it is worth to just think about it. You know what would it be s good about it? you would be able to push a building ofa cliff or something, like a marine armory off a cliff with really physics.
That's all folks
By the way, no money in mod making? Yeah right. Say that to the Gunman, Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat teams. If Natural Selection gets released to Half-Life 2 I estimate it has a 105 % chance of going retail, especially with this Steam thingie (no publisher is needed).
. . .
NS 2 is already out. . .
NS 3 will be out in a few weeks. . .
Get up to date.
"no money in making mods. "
pfft whats constees for?
20 bux for the latest verison of the game seems like paying to me.. with the loophole of having a lower version for all
Granted, the SDK won't be released for HL2 until, you know, the game ITSELF is.. but the physics engine itself will dissallow NS as we know it.
Point: A lot of the map would have to be indestructible (20 feet thick concrete) in order to survive the massive explosions, gunshots, etc. Even then a 'rine humping the armory with an LMG would eventually be able to make a hole through it. And into what? Space? It's impractical from a mappers perspective, since they have to plan for EVERYTHING. Onos rammed through a hive door and walked on out and blew a hole into the side of your base.. literally? Whoops. Guess an extra 200 feet of concrete should stop that.
Another thing.. How would commanding work? With reality the major influence of the graphics engine (Even splintering wood is realistic..), how would the commander get a topdown view of the entire map? For that matter, how would buildings be built? How would items to be picked up (Guns, medpacks, etc.) be dropped?
Without a good year and a half looking at the SDK, these questions can not be answered. The reason it took only 20 months to make the original NS is that the mod tools are very well known, and I'll bet Flayra had a lot of tips from fellow programmers on how to do this and that and the other things.
