Ok guys, I'm new here... well for mapping purposes and I'm wondering if htere is any link or free download to a program that will allow you to create maps for NS... I have some awesome ideas I just don't know how or where to put them. I was thinking that this right here would be a good start. So if anyone can help me, please do so. And if there is now links, I can try and describe my map in words to people who DO create maps and will see how it turns out.

ahah, just have to say this; owned nub.
They went easy on you. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Especially considering how many people don't read the FAQs here they were pretty reserved. Happy Mapping, for some great Tutorial Sites and other Quick-Start Guides, check the stickies in the "Newbie Mapping Forum" up top on the main mapping forum page. (That's really where this thread belongs.)
And don't forget to post some screens of your work for all of us to see once you get started!
Happy Mapping!

EDITED: Grammar
I really don't mean this as a slight against you drakken but it tends to put some of us out seeing the same posts day in day out. If you really are interested in mappng be prepared to spend a LOT of time on it. Aside from the learning curve on simply getting the job done there's yet another one for ns maps. Expect to spend a lot of time trying to find your way on your own and weeding through all the tutorials you can find. Most mappers seem to shut off forums/aim/whatever when they map and be entirely unaccessible for hours at a time. Good luck with it though, and I look forward to seeing what you produce.

*Hails little morphine man over*
The way I see it, people will continue to ask these questions, so just answer them like they've never been asked before. Natural-Selection needs more quality mappers like, Merkaba, Blueman, Relic25 (BTW where is Relic?), Cagey, etc. etc. (The list goes on and on and on.) By helping these new-comers out you may be creating the next mapping "great". Sure the questions get a bit annoying but there's nothing we can do to stop it. So don't yell / make fun of / flame the person who comes along and asks, by doing so you won't stop future occurrences, so why do it at all?
I say, "We all were new at one time or another and some of us didn't read the FAQs." But at the end of the day, one more mapper added to the NS stable makes a pretty big diifference whether you read the documentation or not.
EDIT* Spelling.
