2.1? 3.0?

Okay, I'm confused...I know that 3.0 is in beta testing (right?)..Then what is 2.1?? I see some servers with 2.1..When I try to join it says that my client differs from the servers..So I tried search for "Natural Selection 2.1 download". The pages say that 2.1 is in beta testing...Could someone explain this to me please?

So this means 2.1 got changed to 3.0.
