<div class="IPBDescription">bit of a weird question but...</div> I've been mucking about on some korean games for a giggle, and I thought I'd learn some korean so I have a rough idea of what's going on; the only problem is that while I can see korean text on webpages happily enough, that's the only place I get korean text. Everywhere else like in windows or the games it just shows up as wierd ascii gibberish. Is there any way to fix that so Korean shows up outside of internet explorer/Mozilla firebird? ^^;

here's an example, the one on the left is gibberish I usually get in games (for some reason I'm getting this on the webpage too occasionally but it's the games that bother me) and the one on the right is korean (off IE).

    ok, gem, your trying to learn korean off of video games?

    you have issues girl <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    however, I would try making sure that windows has the Korean Language pack installed

    depending on your OS there are totaly different ways of doing this:

    I only know Wink2K and XP

    Win2K: You need your CD In the drive.
    Pull up your controll panel (start->settings->controll panel)
    Go to regional options
    check the korean box (it should no ask for the CD <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    XP:
    This I think you grab right off of microsoft.com
    <a href='http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5B0BF34F-2D58-4334-A1A8-0B3B43D474A6&displaylang=EN' target='_blank'>http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=EN</a>

    I THINK this will do it (I don't feel like digging out my CDs to see if it works atm <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    so GL and report back <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    lol, I'm not learning it off the game silly I'm learning it off <a href='http://langintro.com/kintro/toc.htm' target='_blank'>this</a> and <a href='http://www.interedu.go.kr/indexe.html' target='_blank'>this</a>. I don't expect to be fluent or anything, I just want to learn enough to scrape out a rough idea of what the heck's going on lol.

    I think that download's for office xp, but I've sorta fixed it anyways without it. I set my unicode to korean and it's working fine ingame now =D

    Only downside is that when I try to install stuff I have to use funny 'W' character thingies instead of '/'. Outside of that it seems fine <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ...Not that this really helps but:

    I konw like 15 Korean words from Tae Kwon Do...does that...you know...help in any way?

    ...10 of those 15 are counting from 1 to 10 <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> .

    Warcraft 3 has Japanese/Korean language support.

    Half-Life's VGUI text might support them too, provided you change the fonts used.
