well, I dunno exactly how it works.

But a guy on my game development team used some program called "hypercam" to record a demo of our game. It was a bit choppy but overall it turned out good. I assume it can be used to catch video of anything you do on your computer.

    The command's

    movie "name" "FPSrate"

I believe, that'll make each frame a .bmp, then you have to make all the .bmp's to .avi with VideoMatch[Easiest Prog for this.]. You'll need alot of HD space though, because of Screen Resolution and length because they're .bmps.

Watch the .dem file and use FRAPs, that's all I can think of now.

iggames: could you perhaps ellaborate in your post: i have a demo i've already taken, and i want to get video footage from certain parts of it
iggames: a demo taken through a HLTV proxy, so i can look at any angle i want
iggames: i could output directly from the video card to a digital camera, but i don't have easy access to one...
iggames: so i'm looking for software alternatives
    NewDocDrew: anything else?
iggames: i think that'll do for now
iggames: ask if the movie thing can be done while playing back a demo

thx. I finally managed to take a halfway descent picture of myself, but didn't wanna put the santa hat on my avatar so I set to work on making *something* with a santa hat, and text is the easiest thing to make in 3dsmax <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I only know how to get the Video to .bmp's. If you don't want to record the whole thing, which takes tons of disc space and time, keep the console down, when the console's down it doesn't record, then take the console away for what you do want .bmp. Getting it to other mediums like Camera's a stuff... not a clue.

.bmp it if you have the space
    if you dont:
    .bmp parts of it
    reduce size/archive/store/put in .avi
    repeat
    compile
    distribute
    enjoy
