Comm Abilities

<div class="IPBDescription">....</div> Just been reading a startegy on comming, that included some good tactics. I noticed one thing that really stood out though;
(Speaking of the comm)
"...scout their route. Bring up elevators that they will be using. Give them constant waypoints - they can't see the level as well as you can. Open doors for them, and shut them as they pass through to slow down rear-ambushes..."

!!!
Is this true? Can the Comm press buttons for lifts and doors!? Can they or have they ever been able to? I cant beleive it never noticed if they can...
If they cant, why not? I think it would work really well <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    its most obvious on ns_bast

    get commander and just double klick the bid door leading to engine hive
    it will open

    it can be very difficult to actually hit the door at the right spot to activate it, lifts are more simple...

    ...though crushing an Onos with a lift is not recommended, no matter how much fun it may be. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Another good one:

    If your marines are about to enter Gen Room (on ns_nothing), you can bring up the lift at the far end of the room. This secures one of the exits and will mean the marines should be entering a "safe" room provided no aliens are already present. Even if aliens are present, they wont be able to escape...

    ...once i was on an alien team when the biggest onos-killer was the comm, crushed like 4 oni and 3 fades under lifts <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    yes, that is where it is most prevant, you can also send down the elevator in MS, and the big door that opens to engine room from the main aft juncition, and if you take the elevator that leeds to the long corridor and arguably one of the biggest hiveroom's in NS, you can see white puff when you do the elevator that leads there or the door to engine room.

    I belive if the mapper was competent [and basically all of them are, those maps are top notch for HL] then most switch that can be pressed on the ground can be pressed by the comm, but it may take some time, and it might now work in every spot, but it is still a neet trick to know when you can kill an onos with a door when he walks thru it as the comm with it, or help out some fleeing or approaching soldiers with more than meds by opening doors and such. One thing I have noticed is that most doors and small elevators have disappeared in 2.0
