    it is a 4 step process, very simple tbh,

    1.record a demo
    2. type
    playdemo myDemo ; startmovie 15 myMovie
    3. look at all the hundreds of .bmp files in your HL folder called myMovie0001 etc
    4. open videmach and import all the bmps, set to mpeg(i sugest divX or similar) and compile


    .....obviously if you want to edit diffrent movies together etc id takes a little more time but that is how to make .dem into .mpeg

    edit: oh and if you want to add more stuff onto a demo, as long as it is still on the same map you can use the command
    appenddemo myDemo

    Anyone know a decent fps to set it to when recording a demo ingame? or just setting the fps when converting the bitmaps to .avi

    I prefer 30 fps for my movies, but you should try some different values
