The Best Game Ever

And The worst game ever.
I had the best game ever yesterday =D

I'll tell you why it was so good later, but here's the gist of it:

Playing on ns_the-one-with-maintenance-and-computer-core-and-eclipse-hives, 12 vs 12.

We start with Maintenance hive, everyone rushes off to horseshoe, runs around putting up RTs, etc. The marines get Computer Core early, and set up a TF (no phases yet, though they later get one). We manage to put up eclipse just as they get a PG outside maintenance, we manage to take it down with skulks and a fade or two.

The rest of the game is spent holding them out of maintenance, stopping the occasional rambo, destroying sieges, and killing the PGs they set up.

They knocked down 2 hives, and we put 'em back up again, getting a new upgrade each time (eventually we had all upgrades and 1 hive, just before we lost).

Crazy-fun.

Now I shall elaborate on why it was crazy-fun:

No onos. Well, 2 of them in the entire game, neither at the same time.
Only about 7 HA in the whole game. They could have easily won with HA, which bugged me, but it was still fun.
Only about 7 JP in the whole game.
Few HMGs, shotties, etc. Lotsa mines though =P
And the number one reason why it was crazy fun: The comm NEVER turret farmed. He had about 7 turrets in Computer Core, and about 7 at base. That's it.

Too bad so many commanders enjoy turret farming, and just use HA rush to win... As we will see here:

Map was ns_tanith, 12 vs. 12 (I like big games =D)

Quick skulk rush, destroyed their base, and a few RTs. We figured they'd relocated to Waste again (they did it last game, and got royally pwnt). They had, so we rushed over.

They held us off long enough to set up, and any skulk entering there would be killed pretty much immediately.

We took over the entire map. OCs blanketed any exits from waste.

They managed to take West access res, and it all went downhill from there, with them getting level 3 weapons/armor, and camping like there's no tomorrow. Remember now, we had every res node, and any attempts of getting out of waste was impossible without a HA rush.
At one point I went fade, blinked into the hive from cargo, and died within 4 seconds. There were that many turrets. Going onos, I headed into the hive, and managed to get halfway there before dying (celerity/regen).

So we gave up on rushing from that side, and tried from the west access side. Marines were standing on the ladders, so stomp wouldn't work, so we got 2 lerks umbra-ing and sporing. The onos would manage to get down the ladder, into west access res room, only to find...

75 turrets, and a phase gate. I'm not exaggerating on this one . Our pings were all around 300-400, server was on the verge of crashing.

At one point, we had 6 onos and 2 lerks, and we were still unable to destroy the thing. The commander sieged our little outpost outside west access, and the proceeded to replace our outpost with one of his own. They then proceeded to take Reactor Room, at which point the server crashed. Total game time was over 2 hours.

Remember now, that we had the ENTIRE MAP! All but 2 res points, and 6 onos. They had LA/LMGs. General consensus was that the marines would have won if the server hadn't crashed. *cry*.

Those are my best and worst games so far =)

I'll start with my best victory.. in this case best means the most slaughterific, fastest, ownage game ever.,.

I was a marine on Tanith I think(The map with nanogrid double res).. 7v7

The game started off with a skulkity rush, which failed to kill any marines and only gave us about 6-10 res from rfk.

From there , two squads broke into two groups and went down each side of the map(Comm left me mines to plant at base, which I did) We took West access(I was in this group of about 4), and the other group of only 2 took West Skylights. We then moved onto Nottzle and found an alien res, which the four of us knifed. By now we had killed about 4-6 random skulks along the way. The other team effortlessly without any resistance moved to overlook and capped, then Sub-Sector.. Mean-while, we stood guard at Nozzle(It was confirmed that pipeline was their hive), and waited for nozzle to electrify.. Then moved onto double res, where the other group had met up, so now we were a 6 man squad. We set up double res and got a PG there. One marine ran off back to sub-Sector and set up a PG, the rest of us were given the order to go sack cargo. We got there and met some OC's, a hive in building, and an RT.. All of us died maybe 2 or 3 times before our LMG rushes took it all down(We had 3 IP's) Now we had the aliens so tied up with cargo that the lone marine was able to re-cap any killed res(We controled 9 res nodes after we capped cargo) .. We got a PG in cargo as well.. The comm said he had multiple upgrades running at once but couldn't spend the res fast enough. None of the marines even saw a shotgun the enire game(But we had 3-2 upgrades at the end.)

The only res left was pipeline, so us 6 LMGers ran in there just to test the waters and see what the aliens were up to.. We were surprised to find there hive completely empty, escept for like 2-3 gorges or so. We mowed those down quickly with out upgraded weapons.. Soon after some skulks began respawning while others popped up to save the hive.. It did them no good.. only 1 maybe 2 marines died before we cleared out all the alien strcutures and aliens. They were now spawning 1 at a time with the rest in the red waiting... We had 2 marines spawn-camp while the others gunned down the hive with their LMG's.

None of us ever saw advanced guns, or JP's, or shotguns.. I got a pack of mines at the beginning...

We owned so bad that the aliens never had a chance to do anything but die. And it's not that they didn't try to cap res or hives or that their players sucked(This was on a server I frequent often, and I know all the regulars there, they don't suck) .. But we just trampled them.. Despite the length of this story, the game was only about 7-8 minutes total(Dual arms labs = pwn).

Worst loss.. hmmm.. So many of them it's hard to remember... But I think I got one...

On lost I think(Feedwater, Engine, Refinery). 8v8+(I forget exactly, long time ago)

Picture this.. Aliens have 1 hive and 1 RT, 1 living onos and rest skulks with perhaps a gorge.
Mrines have all the res on the map, 3-3 upgrades, HA And JP's reserched, and a bank of perhaps 400 extra res...

I was a soldier this time, not comm.. The comm bugged out and got his weapons and armor and everyone on the team decided to go solo rambo(Figured t he game was over either way) .. The aliens held steadfast in Refinery and refused to die or give up.. About this time, two of the marines had to leave, as did two aliens.. Then two MORE marines left for no reason leaving us with 4 players against 6 aliens.. Our pool of resources was still around 300-400 though.. But there was no comm.. no leadership.. no team-work.. marines kept giving themselves equipment and ramboing off. I tried to stick with one person at least to accomplish something, but it wasn't enough.. In a surprise move, the aliens took out tram and feed in a quick blitz. I told them we should do something about it and stop the aliens from progressing.. The others just shrugged it off and said 'We got plenty of res, we'll beat them soon" .. They worked up their 2nd hive.. more ramboing.. more of me trying to organize the team together.. When the aliens took back double I knew we needed some help... (about now another marined and alien left leaving 3 marines and 5 aliens).. I jumped in the comm chair and tried to give orders to the other marines.. we still had 300-ish res, so seiging and PG's and equipment were no problem.. But they were still in their rambo-mentality and ignored my orders.. so I tried setting up some seige points and PG's by myself with a JP.. always go killed by a lerk or fade and a few times digested from behind while I was frantically setting up a seige. Running and phasing back and forth between spots.. my other teammates were still ramboing and dieing very quickly against the aliens new 2-hive abilities and upgrades, They kept jumping in the chair while I was away building seige bases and gave themselves stuff.. soon we were down to about 3-4 RT's and only 20-50 res.. We were losing fast.. I managed to take out double-res and cap it and PG it, but lost it soon after because no one would defend it but me when they rushed in to take control of it again..

Slowly the aliens took over the other RT's as I didn't have the ability to be everywhere at once, and no0 manpower to speak of since the newb marines kept trying to rambo, when the res ran out finally, and we had maybe 2 RT's (MS and Engine), they decided it was time to listen to waypoints.. the only hope now was keeping Engine alive, I suited them up with JP's to get over there quick, with shotguns and...

They rambo'd with their new 1337 gear and died horrible deaths. Engine fell and a 3rd hive went up... Now it was down into the typical marine turtle.. We held them off for maybe 20 minutes and finally met defeat. Such a bitter defeat in light of such an easy win if only the team hadn't rambod off..

    That was my worst loss.

    best
map with cafatera in it and the resnode
the rines had a good comm, and they took sewer with a turret farm, me, 2 other onoses and 2 fades, and 2 lerks went in and took it all, then i went in and xenocided most of the time after my death :.( (and this is where i got the 6 xeno kill and most were 3 and 2's) 3 hr long good game of me xeoning onosing and fadeing, the shot us down with hmg's (rare) shotties (most common) and lmg's as LAsolders. wow.

    worst
same as me23's best map, we were just getting a nice base going and the hord of skulk rushers go in so i hop out to help and build, we got them, with heavy death, but as soon ase 1 skulk runs out to para something, some idiot runs in says "WERE ALL GONNA DIE!" and recylces EVERYTHING, evin my nice 5 turret placement, where that coulda been used to take down the next wave of mid game skulks, 15 min game

My best game was in the 1.4 era. The map was ns_nothing, the 'rines and aliens were so perfectly matched I do believe the game would have gone on forever. Basically, we 'rines had a HA train (I think I was in a HA for 45 minutes that game) and the aliens had a compliment of skilled fades. For the longest time the teams were just swapping hives: Marines lockdown gen and viaduct of them, then the aliens would take gen, then the marines would take power silo, then aliens take viaduct... it was not boring like some epic games like that, there was plenty going on to keep it interesting, until, finally, something happend...

    the server CRASHED!

It was such a disappointment to have THREE AND A QUARTER HOURS worth of playing go down without any result, but everyone agreed it was great. After the server got back up, a bunch of us just sat around in the ready room for a while talking about how great a game it was .

My best victory was on ns_eclipse.

To keep a long story short, marine took down all our hives but we had building. All our skulks died except me and another guy. We fought off ramboing marines who tried to shoot down the hive before it was fully built but to no avail. Eventually the hive went up and we just bum rushed every marine outpost. We eventually won.

    This was pre NS 2.0.

    best game evar:
we lost as aliens on ns_ [something] on nano-gridlock ... it was good because we spent hours swapping hives and such

    worst game:
marines camping a hive for an hour while faderushes turn up nothing (1.04 ns_nancy) we had the other two hives, noname/mother and aux gen. to win we lifted a gorge into the vent, build the hive, and had a fade 'squad' teleport in, while a few skulks ran in through the door ... finally after enough ad-hoc phasing we broke the tf ... it was annoying/pathetic/horrible/plain wrong how long that game lasted

Worst game: Today on co_core. We got rushed by 4 lvl 4 onoses. Bad game...

    Best game later.

Worst Loss: To be honest, I didn't stay for the rest of the game. It was too much of a shame, really. Anyway, we were on eclipse, and we had 1 hive and every res node with the exception of the 2 hives they possessed. We had a "JP Train". I was unfortunate to find out that, while the team had stuck together with great cohesion for most of the map, apparently they saw 1 onos and freaked. After that, I lost 5 JP'ers to one onos. All JP'ers were equipped with HMG/Mines, with 3-3 upgrades. I was amazed. 5 HMG's, and a bunch of people who seemed to be able to aim, could not take out 1 onos. I did another JP Train, only the encounter the same fate. After that, I got them an HA train with the last of what had seemed like a bottomless res pool, and we actually had a decent fighting force - the one onos that was there we killed farily quickly. In this process, we had lost the third hive, but at this point we could have killed it just as easily. When I ordered the marines to head to maintenence, one of them said "Why would we want to kill a hive?", followed by "Yeah! Why would we?" (I am not making this up). I left shortly thereafter after almost all of the HA's died. Cause of death for each one:
    1) lived (he is a friend of mine of whom I told to guard the base)
    2) OC'ed to death
    3) parasited
    4) lerk spikes
    5) lerk spikes
    6) devoured
