A Christmas Gift From Gamers

<div class="IPBDescription">A very worthy cause!!</div> One of our long time ally clans, CBW, has a member, |CBW|Jack, that came up with an excellent idea for a truely worthy cause. I will paraphrase it here:

Gamers are often looked down upon by the media to the point that there is a perception that since we play FPS games, we're likely to shoot up our schools and workplaces since we are unable to draw a distinction between our gaming worlds and reality. Social debate aside, a gamer cartoon site Penny Arcade has made a deal with the Seattle Childrens Hospital to donate gaming (and non-gaming) Christmas gifts to the children in their hospital.

I suggest we do something similar with either a North America, Canadian, or Toronto based organization to donate gifts (or money) this season. It is very late (to set something like this up) and as of today there is less then a month to raise a donation. But considering the amount of people that hit our web site and game servers, I wonder if a subtle request to paypal us might not raise a little something-something for the kids.

I'm not saying we do it for good publicity (like Penny Arcade appears to), but that we do it because its the right thing to do.......... and its Christmas for Pete's sake.

The full post from |CBW| Spive can be found <a href='http://www.kogakaiden.com/kcsaboard/viewtopic.php?t=4810"' target='_blank'>here</a> along with all the contact information.

Take a look and see if you can help.

I'm going to read the full post now... but I don't agree
that Penny-Arcade's Childs Play idea for "publicity".
(I'm pretty sure the P-A site contains the full reasons for
    the idea)

I do not know either if it is for publicity or not, it could be becaue they are well rounded loving individuals that run a business, and truely care for there fellow man. However any business is looking for publicity, and that isn't always a bad thing.

Which is why it doesn't say GIVE, GIVE, GIVE...just a nice gesture from a few of us that have been playing FPS's together for a while, that is all, nothing more.

Which is also why this is posted in Off Topic...

    Nice thinking guys, nice thinking.

If we were going to send money where would we send it? (so people who want to donate could donate)

If you were useing paypal or someing what would you send it to then? (i dont really know how paypal works, I dont have any money and I'm only 16)

If we were to send some of our good ol' games where would we send them too? ( mail order address?)

So this good ol' community can give in some. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

spive@canadianblackwatch.com is the e-mail you would use if you wanted to send paypal or get a home address to send a check.

I believe giving games is through the one that Spyder-Monkey aluded to...

Sounds like a great idea, but, I don't trust you. It's nothing personal, but it dosn't seem right when someone just says (in a nutshell) "Hey, send me some money or wahtever you can spare so we can give it to children."

I've known many people who have been scammed this way....sorry.

    Which is your preference...no offense taken. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

To be honest I probably wouldn't either, darn paranoia and stuff....
