Lan Servers Are Restricted To Local Clients

everytime a friend of mine makes a normal server, and i try to join it, it tells me this

Lan Servers are restricted to local clients (Class C)

and it isnt a lan game.....

does anyone know what the problem is...

i got this if i tryed to connect to a steam server with WON, u sure you both using WON? failing that try making the server by loading HLDS

maybe phasing this thread to tech forum?

Are you SURE he did sv_lan 0 in the server console?

what does sv_lan 0 do?

it disables the LAN mode.

but when you do sv8lan 0 u have to restart the server again I suppose.

NP, and you don't have to restart the server after changing sv_lan.. make sure sv_lan isnt in listenserver.cfg or server.cfg
