    Played Doom secretly in the middle of the night, when I was supposed to be in bed.

    I remember mapping for Doom. Ah, the joy! And replacing the chainsaw by my own allmighty vacum cleaner!

    Hmmmmm ... must see if I can find my vacum cleaner again. It rocked, as the chainsaw (and the vacum cleaner inherited it) had this funny "stick the monster to the weapon" effect.

    I remembered way back then when I was 10, I finally got past those 2 Hell Barons with a rocket launcher in Doom Shareware <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    And of course, don't forget shotgunning Pinky right in the kisser <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Wow I thought it was older than that. I would ave been 10 at the time of it's release. Glad I'm not 10 anymore.

    Possibly, in honour of the great DOOM, we should have a multiplayer game of <a href='http://zdoom.org/' target='_blank'>ZDOOM!</a>

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOOM!!

    <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I was 12 when I got my first taste of this game. I remember getting in trouble for installing the shareware on the school computers!!

    I remember talking to my friends about doom a while ago. They happen to be an RPG nut and were complaining about how they probably wouldn't finish FFX before FFX2 came out. I just responced with
    "It could be worse, I haven't finished Doom2 yet and heck, by the time doom3 comes out Doom2 will be like 10 years old." Yeah.. I'm pathetic. I know. But each time I pick up either of them to play I later get distracted and by the time I want to play again I've got a new computer or OS or something and my save files are just gone.
    Oh and shockwave Jdoom > Zdoom.

    I remember playing DOOM, I was like 4 (yes, I know I'm a nublet). I wanted to play it all the time. "Hey, guys, let's play doom! Doom? Come on, doom! Let's play, already!" and then I'd dropkick my brother in the shins if he didn't <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    However, very recently, I went on a Doom-spree. I played Doom 1 and 2 over and over, for like 5 hours straight. Beat both games twice (I had to use godmode once, though), and then afterwards, it was around 11...
    I went down to the kitchen to cook some food, and when I turned on the microwave, I swear I could hear the sound of the Imps and zombies (former human sar...seargents...sar...bleh...) dying over and over, for a whole minute. Getting freaked out, I went to bed, and the whirring of my computer sounded like a billion Lost Souls attacking. After that, I decided no more Doom for me.

    Hey, I haven't finished DooM either. I've completed the two first episodes, but after that I just haven't pulled my finger out of my **** so to speak. Same with DooM2, I've never been able complete map 23 (or something like that) before I loose my saves <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Finding the Doom shareware disk at an Egghead and saying, 'hmmmm this looks pretty interesting'. Then coming out of a haze 3 days later realising that I had spent an entire weekend glued in front of my 386 and had slept for maybe 4 hours, and skipped two friday classes.

    Then a dormmate and I realising that with a nul modem cable, we could be playing each other right then. And not having enough money for one, leading us to steal one from the unlocked computer lab (the ONLY computer lab - this was 1993) at 3am and begin our multiplayer obsessions that have lasted to this very day.

    I am one of the few people who has actually completed doom, although I did skip most of the 3rd chapter and used IDKFA to beat the boss. Also the pink things scared the hell out of me.

    Well, I WAS about seven <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The disk it came on also had the sharewares of heretic, descent and Warcraft. This was when my gaming career truly began.

    Happy birthday to my favorite <a href='http://members.cox.net/doomaniac/meandsamus.jpg' target='_blank'>space marine</a>! :D

    And a very special happy birthday to my favorite chainsaw:
    <img src='http://www.rome.ro/images/Random_Pic/doom_chainsaw.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
    ^^ Yes, this is the actual chainsaw used in DOOM. Pic snagged from <a href='http://www.rome.ro' target='_blank'>rome.ro</a>.

    I also believe this marks around the 9th year or so of me having this nickname. Kinda scary to think that I've been DOOManiac, kicking nubs on IRC, when some of you were still in yer daddy's pants... :P

    [edit]
    p.s. Thanks for caring guys :P

    Awesome, didn't know about this.

    I still play Doom regularly over the school LAN because my CompSci teacher is obsessed with it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I remember using my old 4-track recorder to reverse the backtracking on the final level (where you had to fire the rockets through the little hole from the lift). Got it to work and if I remember right, it said: "to win the game, you must kill me, John Romero". And yeah, if you used noclip, and walked through the wall, there was his severed head on a stick hehe.

    Whoa.....I didn't realise that Doom was so young. This means I was 7 before my parents could not allow me to play doom. Wow. This is one of the reasons I wish I was born in the late 70s instead of the 80s.
