<div class="IPBDescription">NS:C question</div> I have a quick question: about how many kills and what not does it take to gain a level in ns:c and how much more does one need per level?
dunno i never really payed too much attention to it but u lvl soo dam fast on aliens.... but when u are marines it seems like it takes forever... i think it depends on what lvl u are also. like if a lvl 1 marines kills a lvl 6 skulk then i think they get more experience and also i think it splits up experienced when in groups rather then going solo...
all i gots to say is its dam hard to kill skulks sometimes... i think its just there hitboxes it can get hella rediculous. thats the first thing i noticed when i was playing combat is skulks are soo dam strong
another thing to note that when playing NS:combat never rush solo from the start cause u will be lvl 1 forever! thats from the marines Point of view.

Joining a game late, just follow some of the high level players around, and you'll get tonnes of XP. I've gone from level 1 to level 7 in one go <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
hmmm so you'll get the same xp for killing an enemy by yourself as you would get for killing one in a group? meh it's probably better to rambo so people dont steal your kills then
No, not at all, in fact. Better to hang around others.
Here's how it works.
Alien1 kills Marine by himself, gains <i>x</i> amount of xp. Total xp team gains by killing the marine: <i>x</i>
Alien1 kills Marine while Alien2 is nearby. Alien1 gains <i>x</i> amount of xp, Alien2 gains <i>x/c</i> (where c is some constant I don't know the value of). Total xp team gains by killing the marine: <i>x + x/c</i>
Alien1 kills Marine while Alien2 and Alien3 and Alien4 and Alien5 are nearby (presumably, you've all been helping kill the marine anyway) Alien1 gains <i>x</i> amount of xp, Aliens2 through 5 gain <i>x/c</i> xp. <i>x/c</i> is not less than in the above example. Total xp team gains by killing the marine: <i>x + (</i>4<i> * x/c)</i>
So the more people around you when you kill, the more your kill was just worth. Fighting in groups is thus GREATLY rewarded.
I've killed a marine at level 1 with nobody else around, got 2/3's of a level. Did it with one person around, got half the level. Did it with 2+ people around, got 1/3 the level.
Weird, I remember sometime ago the changelog said something about having more teammates around divides it then adds a number of some sort.... it's something around those lines I'm sure of it.
EDIT : As for levelling up, it takes 2 kills to get to Lvl 2, and I can't remember the rest....probably because I've watched that spoiler of a video....

Second: Of course "never rush solo" because NS is a team based game. So some co-operation is expected.
Third: If you'd ask me, I'd say that the one who kills the alien, gets experience. The ones hanging around get a little less experience than the one who killed the alien, but all still get the same amount.
I just ASSUME it goes like this, I don't have any factual information.

Never Kill alone, even if you have 1 other person to get XP from a kill its better than by your self. Not to mention, these arn't normal marines and Kharaa, they are super after a few levels and you can get an **** whoopin if you rambo off alone.
No, you do not lose your current level, upgrades or anything like that, or so I've been told. I'm unaware about the XP thing though, I would presume it's the same as anything else.
How does XP boost a marine? I understand that you get upgrades/evolutions as the kharra; do you get weapons/HA/JP for XP? And what about weapon upgrades - are they a bonus as well?

You want small pairs to be most efficent IMO.
Groups are always better.
and all your upgrades stay also.
So once you hit level 10, you can start having serveral upgrades overlap.
