Qbsp
Hi. I have encountered a problem when I try to test a map for NS. First, I created a test map, a simple room with info_player_start and light in the top middle. The map worked fine. But then, I created another map, a little room and two ways, one where you start, and one that leads to the rest of the map (which I still construct). Now, when I wanted to test this map, an error "QRAD.exe has created a problem. Please reboot your computer if the problem returns." followed by another error "The command failed. Windows reported an error: Unable to find file."
The command "Copy File" is:
c:\program\valve hammer editor\maps\ns_test2.pts
C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\nstr\maps\ns_test2.pts
Have I done something wong somewhere? Has anybody else encountered this problem?

Now I am no expert mapper but it sounds like the compile didnt complete itself. If you are running the compile, look afterwards to see if there are any errors. You could have a leak in one of the hallways, etc.

Yes, did you put a temporary cap in the hall way that'll lead to the rest of the level, remember that entities like func_doors aren't counted. Also make sure you have Zoner's HL compile tools, they really are much better.

OK, first of all it sounds like you're using the OLD compile tools that come with Worldcraft/Hammer(qcsg, qbsp, etc). You'll want to pick up the latest version of Zoner's compile tools here. Zoner's tools have been tweaked extensively to make your HL maps work better and look better. Also, from your description it sounds like you did not close off the hallway that leads to the unfinished part of your map. You must make sure that your map is completely closed off and airtight, otherwise there will be an error known as a "leak" and your VIS and RAD programs will not be able to run. This probably explains why there was an error in QRAD. Hope this helps, if not just give a holler.
