We got to show them our game.
I'm so very very psyched right now. Sometime this last summer, a crew from 60 minutes came to DigiPen (the school I go to) and started interviewing some of the staff and students.
Then on the first day of school they came again and I got to be on camera during my orientation speech to the freshmen. Then they came again in October to film the technical critiques that the Juniors were giving to the sophomores (I got to be on camera again since I was one of the Juniors giving advice). And just this morning they came again to video my team and I giving a presentation on the state of our game (it's currently at the first prototype / pre-alpha level).
So hopefully whenever the hell they air the story they've been filming for months then I might get myself on that magic box for a couple minutes.
But in the meantime, since I'm still so pumped up about our presentation today, I thought I'd share a music video that some of my teammates have been working on for the past week.
Requires DivX 5.11 to play. And keep in mind that it's a student game that we will never see profit from

Anyway, congratulations.
Tell me when it airs, I wanna see if any of the other peeps I know there at DigiPen are on camera.
All I know is that it was 60 Minutes on all 4 occassions. So I assume they're going to use at least some of it
But I'll be buggered if they've told me when they're going to show it. I *heard* a RUMOR that it was gonna be sometime in april. But since it was only a rumor, I wouldn't put much faith into that timeline.
Hopefully they're going to show some better footage from our game though since they specifically asked for a modified version of it where they can toggle some of the effects we showed off in the presentation. Effects like wireframe mode, cullbox freezing, day/night time cycles
I'm so psyched, I wish I knew more about how much of it is gonna be my team's game and of course just cuts of me talking about random stuff (hey, I think I'm allowed to be selfish with camera time when it comes to 60 minutes)
How good were your grades/SAT/anything else to get accepted?
Also, do you know when this episode comes on? I'd like to get some more facts about digipen.
oh yeah, you can bet your **** that if it's any fun to play when it's done in april that this forum will hear about it

my grades in HighSchool were good, GPA somewhere in the 3.3-3.8 range (I forget the exact number).
I never took the SAT's. And I don't remember my PSAT's, so I can't help you there.
I think my letters of reference were pretty good. But meh.
I think it was the phone interview that locked it in for me.
The main thing is that you just have to prove to the acceptance people that you're serious about making games and not just some kid that picked up FFX and thought making games might be a good idea.
You'd be amazed at the washout rate of people that came here and just had no clue how hard it was gonna be.
well, i still have some time (jr in highshool)

Yes, i am very serious.. maybe I will have a chance
I'm taking calc, physics, AP english (just wanted something to do) and some Design Engineering cources... got straight A's last quarter... Love programming, love gaming.. love the dull frustration of programming and problem solving and getting into those math equations and breaking them down to a programmable form...
Oh i'm drooling here... Too bad my parents wouldn't want me going all the way to Washington from PA.
Good luck, hope you get on TV, hope you get a job, hope you graduate.. I hear it's a VERY harsh college.
that's cool XD

You may think you have some time, but they start the process VERY early, and it's quite competitive. If you're thinking about going to Digipen, I'd go to one of the open houses and get the applications this summer, and start working on the application at the beginning of your senior year. I'm not to worried about the competition, since I already have a 4 year computer science degree and I'm just going back for another degree because Digipen sounds like more fun, but I'd be concerned about it if I was coming straight from high school. Taking a pre-calc class during your senior year would help a lot too. And the best college prep physics you can find. But just starting the process early is extremely helpfull.
I was only *ok* at trig, and that caused the first math class to nearly kick my ****. But thankfully about halfway through differential calculus I caught up on it.
