I think that you can make the graphics look like origonal hl by settings it to 16 bit color
Otherwise steam works fine for me and i have the same fps as usual <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Anyway - steam works well for me except that it seems to need more memory allocated to it. I'll have to read their tech-support forums sometime.

NS has got "ne" choice. Regardless of what you or I wish, WON is doomed. I'd rather have NS on Steam than no NS at all.

Steam is fantastic, much better than WON. Sure there are a few bugs but they will be fixed soon enough.

I'm more bothered by the new version of HL than Steam, and Steam enables those issues to be resolved faster.

I <3 the idea behind Steam, I just... well not hate, I think the implementation rather poor.
-beta testing- is apparently very hard..
Although removing the ads from the main menu by just editing the skin is cool <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> and making it smaller; WHY does it have to be SO LARGE?
BTW NS crashes a lot when the map changes =(

I hate steam because I was one of those innocently banned people (like 1000 people were innocently banned), so when the new NS comes out with VAC support, I can't play!

I use Steam now, it works great, after the initial teething problems it's been a total dream to use.

I can't wait for WON to go down, then all these people whining for non-understandable reasons (56k'ers, you're allowed to whine. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->) will sod off and leave more server space for the rest of us.

So that you all know, Steam works quite well for 3.0a, which is the current test version (I think, these guys fix so much so fast it's hard to remember exactly) And it is amazing. The pings are down, and Flayra and the Devs are doing a great job of not making you hate steam quite so much (though a little bit of periphiary hate is always healthy, reason or no reason)

I vote that you take your whining to someone who cares. I'd say try www.steampowered.com, but I doubt Valve will put much stock in your myopic, uninformed, knee-jerk reaction.

Is Steam perfect? No, but how many things in this world are? Steam is a visionary idea, and is being improved *daily*. Valve has already said that they will be altering the online-requirement for singleplayer, my only gripe.

Regardless, this is not the place for your complaints. Take it to someone who cares.
