Could you bend a soldier for me?
I've found out how to put Marines into my maps, I've found out what program to use to reshape them (Milkshape), but I just damn well can't
God knows what I'm doing or whether I'm even doing it right, but could someone with some form of Milkshape or model manipulating experience do something for me?

I would like a Marine, lying on the floor, legs stretched out, back propped up a little less than 90 degrees, as he would be when leaning against a wall.

If you can do it, plz send it to p.joyner@ntlworld.com

This is crucial to my map idea, because I need to freeze this marine into a block of ice I'm sure its relatively simple to do for those who know how - and thx in advance.

Note: copied from mapping forum...I'm sure you customisationary people are more suited at tackling this problem. Ty.

thats simple my friend, just decompile the hl scientist and use all his dead_idle anims, u'll then find u can recompile the marine with the new anims after u adjust the .qc file

But wouldn't that screw up the marine model, for (I think) the marine and sci skeletons are different?

You'll find that the vast majority of humanoids in HL mods use the same skeleton, or at least skeletons that are similar enough for you to do things like this with.

or you could just complie another marine model and have the only anim that pose he's askin for. to me, i think that'd be far simpler. it'd also completely deter the risk of having wierd animations for the marines. gimmie a few minutes and i'll do what i can

edit: i'm a retard. i just realized taht i didn't back up any of the models i've changed, and thus, i dont have the default marine model. if someone would be so kind as to send it to me, then i'd be more than happy to pose it up for alcow

Owen, they don't share the same skeleton, they don't even have the same skeleton0 pose. But I'll try to whip something up myself...

UPDATE: Look at the pic^^. I contacted cow to find out if he wants the left arms swinging, then it is done^^

Heheh that looks sooo cool. It would never need to be perfect (if there were problems with the skeleton or whatever) coz i'll make the ice (glass) more opaque then normal (hence ice effect) and it wont be amazingly clear - kind of blurry really. Regarding the arm thing, it should be completely static; he aint gonna be moving around much heheh. I like the head leaning over Excellent work, thx very much. Send it to me when possible plz - and is this just a .mdl file, yeh?

I still have the problem that no corpses are allowed in NS maps...though as someone mentioned when I posted this in the mapping forum, mebbe the guy is actually alive, and when thawed out he become perfectly healthy again. Hence is not a corpse

You want external textures (a seperate marinet.mdl) or in one mdl. I dunno what is better for maps

EDIT: I just sent it to you some mintues ago, the version "all-in-one-mdl". Check mail and have fun

    Thx for appreciating my work

I think I want one .mdl lol
When I tried adding marines to my map, i just selected the soldier.mdl (so the whole thing) and it worked.

EDIT: Cheers O&G - Assuming I ever finish and release the map, you'll get due credit

Yeh it looks good, but no I will not add blood. Someone already pointed out that blood and gore and corpses arent strictly allowed in NS maps. And thats just a quick tester - he'll be frozen in a thick block of ice soon enough lol.

QUOTE

why didnt anyone do this before lol?

Probably because of the no corpse rule
