<div class="IPBDescription">gets confusing with complex levels</div> I'm still new to the Hammer editor, and I was wondering if there is anyway to fade out the parts of the level that you aren't focusing on in the 2d views. Many other editors do this so you don't have thousands of lines from architecture that is on the other side of the map messing with your view. Is there anyway to configure Hammer to do this as well?

Select the objects you want to hide, then go to view, then hide selected objects. To brring them back go to view, then show hidden objects.

Also check out the (by default) right side of the editor, and look for a small bit about VIS groups. VIS groups are what the hidden parts of the level are called, and they're very handy. You can use VIS groups to compile only parts of a level, and, of course, to hide large chunks that just clutter up the 2D views. Personally, I usually group and name entire rooms, but mappers have been known to hide away just details, so they can quickly compile the whole level to get a feel for the scale.

Once you hide the objects you've selected, you can see their amount in the small dialog window. There, you can edit the groups to your liking: merge them, rename them, change their color, etc.

yeah I've used vis groups, and mainly have used it for triggers and such, I was just hoping there was a more efficient way. Thanks.
