    The skill of an artist is gauged by thier ability to draw a human hand.

    I must say it looks pretty good.

    That's scary... Work on the shading a bit more, good work otherwise. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The distance between your palm and your first knuckle seems to be too long. The fingers themselves are too thin, unless you've been subsiting on just water for the past couple of weeks. The thumb is turned at a really strange angle, I tried to put my hand in that position and it felt really really ackward. It's a really good start though.

    You do realize it's half top-view eh?

    No, I did. It was still really wierd to hold my hand like that. Maybe I've got tight joints or something that doesn't let them flex all the way. Mostly the thumb nail was bugging me. I still liked it though.

    A common mistake by noob artists is drawing "washed out" pictures. I consider myself a half step above noob, so something like noob-leutenant, but to recommend a much stronger picture incase you figure yourself drawing in class, is to mark down with your pencil harder and cross hatch instead of "rub and scrub."

    Other than that your picture looks semi-realistic, which is a good thing, and might I note that you did it on lined paper, with a **** pencil, and during class..Your finger seem a bit too long...

    If you are not satisfied then transfer it into a face hugger from aliens.
    Yeah very good, some areas (in between the fingers) could do with a bit more shading but, this is only a quick sketch right?

    When I get bored in class, I find myself sketching NS map layouts...
    I had ns_nothing and ns_bast drawn to a scary level of accuracy <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The thumb's a little sickly, but other than that, it's good.

    good start i suppose, not good enough to critique others art as harshly as you have. Perhaps a little more humility would be a better lesson to learn. None the less a good start, ever heard of loomis ?
