This kind of bull stuffing makes me sick. For the English out there, you might remember the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, which pretty much lets the government track everything you do and makes it illegal for anyone to tell you... yeah, that's pretty much exactly what's been done here. Christ, I hate my government so much right now.

    I never got the real problemwith this. Don't want to get busted? Don't do anything wrong. The FBI doesn't have the time, resources, or reason to check out what Joe Schmoe got of Ebay last week. If an individual is discovered to be improperly abusing these powers, he or she should be fired and held accountable either in civil or federal court.

    Er, getting a gun in Canada isn't that hard. It just requires an firearms license and a bit of paperwork. Also, the need for owning a gun for self defence in EITHER country isn't as high as everyone makes it out to be...but I've never met a Canadian who felt they needed a gun.

    Hey bud I'm from Calgary. Carry on your person, sure. But if people can't carry them on themselves how do they shoot people? They don't? Weird.

    I shoot trap and skeet and whenever I go to the gunclub I carry my lujtic in the truck, not illegal.

    Perhaps you can elaborate without yelling at me though?

    I've been attending the gunshow in Calgary since I was 5 years old EVERY year. I think I know a thing or 2 as well about what is required to own a firearm.

    Oh yeah, and my grandparents that I lived with my whole life? Yeah gunsmiths...everything referring to law and guns I hear. Sorry but I'm just as informed as you.

    Soooo I can invade your privacy without any justification? What this act does is takes out a way for the law to be self policing. The FBI has to convince a judge that they have justification for letting them invade your privacy. Also, the automatic gag order the law places on whoever gets subpoenaed for information, meaning they cannot talk about it, which kinda makes finding out about abuses of this power they have.

    No, I'm not really moving to Canada, I just get amazingly frustrated sometimes. Letter to senator has been written, mandatory complaints and gnashing of teeth is done, and I'm calm now. I grew up in a very liberal household, with liberal parents and their even more liberal friends, so this kind of stuff bothers me a lot.

    Also, I don't want the FBI snooping around in my pr0n. It's all legal, mind you, but hey, I took the time to download it. Get your own.

    1) Repeal the Patriot Acts
    2) Quietly pass other laws that are even MORE threatening to our freedoms than the Patriot Act.

    Wow... Canada's not THAT bad. I've liked it there everytime I've been there for a vacation. And they aren't THAT much more leftist than we are. The whole 'free' health care thing is going to cause some problems in the long run, as it always does sooner or later, but it's a nice place. I just happen to like it here. And I was serious, if you don't like it here because it's too right leaning, there's plenty of nice western civ type countries you'd enjoy north of here and in Europe that are more left leaning. But, if you'd rather complain about it and try to change things with your vote, feel free to stay.     umm...I believe i stated that there were "anti-Canada" posts on this thread. although there were indirect bashes on Canadians. As much as I hate America and all of its waste they call "states" I do not drag on a 2 page thread on how much I hate it.
