but....
I learn differently. I like to take things apart and see how they went together, I learn best that way. I was wondering if after firing up valve hammer or whatever if its possible to de-compile someones map, with their permission of course, to see just how its built...?

There's a decompiler floating around on the internet but they are like bad at decompiling stuff....sometimes they screw up the brushes and it never exports the wads used in the map, making the whole map flat and broken

GL looking for a decompiler though.

Ok, i'll try to be useful. The problem with decompileing is that it messes up the map pretty much, like brushes (walls) and textures are not where they should be. The next problem is that traditional decompilers don't decomnplie ns maps, due to their size (this is the problem they ran into with nancy). On the brighter side they did manage to decompile nancy, useing some program which will not be publicly released, but the result was horrid. http://www.easternshores.qc.ca/~cwolfe/nan...cy_recovery.zip

But if you still want to try get WinBSP ( a decompiler) here.

I suggest you go here where ChromeAngel has made a great sample map which you can download and see how it works.
