One of the many little cinematic NS movies that have been brewed up in my head made me think of using the big ol` mechanicly assisted fists of the heavy armor as a knife replacement. Somthing with a real hard pounding action to it.

If your curious my lil` imagination peice was somthing like a scene where a group of (light) marines are holding off a position as hard as they can, Lerks strafing them down, Skulks crawling everywhere, and nothing but constant LMG + Pistol fire ( think of the end of "Hostiles"). Say a Lerk sends a few spikes packing into a guys shoulder, he goes down, and the rest just one by one drown in skulk mauling... then the backup arrives. Three or so HA come "clonking" down the hallway just in time to see the last man pinned down by a Skulk flailing his LMG full auto till he and the weapon are silenced. It slowly turns to the new intruders, and as to not waste the upper hand launches itself down the hall full stride, leaps dead square onto the HA's chest, and rears up to start gnawing on it's head, only this head bears to be a bit more solid than the last. The man inside the suit, HMG hanging carelessly in his left hand, brings up his free right in the air with a small assisted whirr, and with the force of a sledgehammer crushes the skulk, and it's skull into the nearby bulk-head. He pulls away as it drops with an organic thud, still involuntarily twitching bits, and rears his HMG to bear as he and the rest plod on to clean out the new mess.

Yeah... it was somthing like that, just not so much in novel form, and just with the HA skulk part. Anywhoser think it can be done reasonably well?

Basically make it so that the HA modle of the Grunt is a Punch? Wouldn't be able to do it for the Pees, and there are no Wees for the Knife.....it would be a V model only.....but it sure as hell can be done.

Just edit the knife_fire anim in the HA model.

You could just make the wee invisible and add the punch anim to the vee. The knifing animation looks sorta like a punch anyway.

But the knife animation looks more like a forearm "swipe" than a stereotypical knockout punch that he describes. Do you mean the punching as more of a straight right or a right hook from a boxer?

Just as clarification, I know how modeling & animation work, I wasn't asking if it could be done, just if there was somone that could do it, hopefully well.

Other than a slight excess of twisting on the wrist, the knife animation is just that, a knife attack, not much mistaking it for a punch.

As for what I'd think the best type of v_model animation would be, I'm hoping it to be a straight forward pop, but with a lot of "oomph" behind it. This guy`s in power armor, he `aint gonna be boxing, just making flat out mechanicly assisted slugs with his fists o' steel. Considering the speed of the knife and the two different animations, I'd probably suggest a left and a right.
    P.S. Definatly need sounds too.

for the 1st animation u shouyld have the left jab, then 2nd a upper cut or a straight hit with the right fist, and showing the left one coming back up to the chest so it looks like its adding more pwer which that does anyhow

leader is right, it would look stupid, even in a power armor, otherwise the HA would run faster than the LA...

Even power armors have their limits

I liek the idea, and honestly, how can u know if something will look stupid before u even see it? If i could animate well, id do it, but since i cant, somebody else do it
