I like the idea of epic battles. So what do you think of going back to the old slower Game Style.
And for the People who likes fast Game Style they could play NS:C.

New things are created because the old ones are just that, <u>old</u> and obsolete!
There are many reasons why 2.0 was released. There were many changes, and all made the game better. Why would you want to revert to the old, buggy, laggy, featureless, 1.04? *sigh*
I miss the slowness but i think the speed is really what NS needs.

The only thing to do this is to put the res cost of all buildings etc up or something else. I mean with NS:C we already have a fast game so i would like it to see 2.1 be slower again. The point is when you made a mistake in 1.04 you had a chance to correct it because everything was slower. in 2.01 a fault is the end of the Game (everybody makes mistakes).

Also, I agree with nearly all of you. What NS needs is the diversity of tactics of 2.0x, and the slow(-ish) grand battles of 1.0x. THAT would be the ideal ns, imho.
In 1.04, all resource nodes did was help you build or lock down that second hive. My common strategy as gorge, which seemed to have worked most of the time, was drop 1-2 resource nodes, have 1 skulk guard me, then build dcs while saving for hive. Wow, two resource nodes. That sure is a lot of map control I had to fight for to get that second hive!
In 2.0(1), resources are everything. They absolutely are crucial to both teams in an equal way. I feel that hive importance was reduced drastically, while resource node importance was greatly increased. Have a 1-8 res count, the team with 1 loses. Have a 5-5 res count, and it's going to be a fight to kill resource nodes, not hives.
Also, marines with a two hive lockdown can no longer just sit back and watch the aliens die, at least not without killing their resource nodes. Wait too long, and fades and onos will rip apart that second hive.
Make a map with at least two passages between each hive and the marine base. Put 1 node in the marine base. Put two or three in each hive. Put no resources anywhere else.
Would you call that a balanced map? Not likely. But that's what 1.0x tended to be about. Hives were THAT CRITICAL. To both sides.
For the 1.04 feel, write yourself a server mod that increases jetpack thrust so that a jetpacker can stay airborn forever, and rearranges the tech tree so that marines can get these jetpacks before the aliens can possibly get a 2nd hive up. Oh, and limit the aliens to only one gorge, to slow their growth.

I would always go gorge and run around building. When my alien team did their job, I hadly ever saw any marines and when I did, it was a lone marine. Easy to take out.
After 3 res towers were up, I could literally run around just dropping towers and move on. Build the last one. Then, run to the 2 empty hives and start building them.
If done correctly, the hive building did not take too much longer than it does now...and JPers could always be countered, you just had to know how to do it.
I personally liked how gorges worked in 1.0x much better than in 2.xx. However, 2.xx does have a lot of good features as well.
As was stated before, 2.0 was like an entirly new game. Treat it as such. There really is no need to get hostile against anybody for their own personal opinion.
I enjoyed taking on JPers in 1.04 as a solo gorge. You obviously did not. It is simply a matter of opinion.

in 1.04 you either got jps and raped the hive or the aliens got 2 hives and used web/umbra/acid to stomp your base.
in 2.0x you have to use jp's to control res until you can make an assault. And aliens can't **** umbra because it sucks and acid doesn't come until hive 3 and it sucks.
1.0x = More fun - This is just my opinon but i'm sure others agree
I'm not honestly sure which of those two lists is more important.
I hope that 2.1 can smooth out the game even more and add extra diversity while bringing back the excitement and atmosphere of 1.0x. Perhaps i'm just being nostalgic.
after all, if you can get all that stuff off of 2-3 res nodes, then why not take more and get it twice as fast!?
